11  A flower brooch (evolved from the Genie bottle pattern) in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: December 29, 2005 04:27:27 AM
I was determined to try moobaa's genie bottle earrings (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=65456.0) on the last day of the winter holidays, but something got under my contact lenses the day before & my eyes were all red and sore the next day.  Since I couldn't look at bright light (in order to work on smaller beads), I have to postpone my plan Embarrassed . So here's the result of playing with the idea using some larger beads:

13  X'mas ornament #2 in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: December 16, 2005 03:13:02 AM
Finally I was done with procrastination & wrote up the description in English just before deadline, so I made my entry to the Christmas Jewelry Making Contest on wire-sculpture.com with the tiny wreath I made before  Grin.  Then I can have a try at some great stuff posted by other contestants! Hohoho!!

I was immediately in love with a star ornament, Fancy Funky Star by Ms Andrea Adams.  This is her contest entry:

This is my humble imitation:

I think I didn't quite strike the balance.  Too many beads on the frame and too little at the middle... Anyway, thought I'd just share.

Thanks for looking, and merry x'mas!

16  Beads Mania worshipping in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: December 05, 2005 12:15:00 AM
I knew I had to try this when I saw the tutorial on Beads Mania. Finally got my hands on some flat beads and this is my version:

Thanks for looking. My eyes got very tired after working with the seed beads hidden under the petals. Salute to all who work with seed beads a lot.  I've seen many awesome and complicated pieces on Craftster, but I really had no idea about the difficulty before I tried to use seed beads!

17  More translucent beads!! (updated 12/12) in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: December 05, 2005 12:04:09 AM
I returned to the shop where I got the translucent beads for the white necklace I posted before, and was excited to find out they had those in black (and many other colors). Of course I snapped up some of those, and this is what I came up with:

The pic didn't do the beads justice, so here's a close-up shot:

12/12 EDIT: I did't know why, but the beads didn't align smoothly along the string when I wore this necklace.  So I've re-strung it with tiny beads between the black beads:

Now it was lengthened from 18 inch to 20 inch.

I also found some white ones in potato shape, and made a bracelet to match my white necklace.

Thanks for looking!

18  Blue/clear bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: November 28, 2005 08:00:26 AM

Pardon the grainy pic. Great for practicing how to do T-pins  Grin and it used up some old beads in my box which I'm sure aged >10yrs...

Thanks for looking.

19  Re: Green earrings & brooch in Beads: Completed Projects by iolite88 on: November 28, 2005 06:53:54 AM
Thanks all for the kind words ^^

>>countrygal
The brooch is super easy (somewhat tedious) to make. The key is to use a metal sieve-like thingie. (what's that called in English??) Let me fish out a diagram I made for a similar project:

This one had even more 'petal' beads as it didn't use flat beads like the white ones in the white/green brooch I posted above.  In the white/green one I also used only 1 glass pearl as the center.

>>craftyLynny & shanmclean
I made the stand from some wire, to practice coiling ^^ The twigs are just some scrap fabric stringed on thin wire and twisted together.
