1  Re: September 2006 Birthday Month Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by porfiry on: September 27, 2006 09:15:18 AM
I received a package from alwaysinmyroom today!!!  She made me the most amazing tote bag ever!  It's REVERSIBLE and has all kinds of pockets to store my stuff, and it's got a skeleton theme!  I'm so excited... here's the outside:

The inside, which could be the outside because it's REVERSIBLE!

And a cute little pouch that she made for smaller stuff, see the little skellies on the inside??

She also made a little shrinky-dink skull charm that hangs from the side of the bag.  I tried to get a photo of it but I'm using my dad's camera and couldn't quite figure out how to focus close up...  Wink

Thank you alwaysinmyroom!!!!  I love love love it!   Cheesy

2  Baby (or cat) sling! in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by porfiry on: September 21, 2006 10:44:21 AM
One of my friends just found out that she is pregnant, so I began plotting out all of the things that I can make for her and the baby!  Last night I whipped up this super-easy baby sling.  It seriously took about half an hour.  Thing is, though, I don't have any babies readily available to test out what I make.  So I improvised.... a cat is relatively the same size and weight as a baby, right?  Right?!

Lucky for me the little guy loves to have his picture taken!  Anyway, here's a link to the tutorial that I used to make the sling:

3  Re: I love Mexico Swap 2 in The Swap Gallery by porfiry on: May 23, 2006 06:48:22 AM
Okay guys, here is the collected awesomeness that inkkitten sent me!!

First, she sent me a boatload of Mexican candy, including candy made out of cactus, and candy with chile!  (Inkkitten, I haven't tried the candy yet, but I'll let you know whether your husband is right about the Gusano Lucas or not!   Wink )

Next, we have the Mexican flag purse!  I love it so much, I had to take all of my crap out of it to get the pictures, because I've already been using it:

And the inside of the bag, check out the fabric, it's so cool:

And she also made a Mexican flag coin purse and a Day of the Dead compact mirror for me to carry around (which she hand painted!!!):

Inkkitten, I love everything, thank you for being such an awesome swap partner!   Cheesy

And I think that if CraftyZary ends up not getting anything from her partner, we should all make and send her one Mexi craft!   Grin

OMG I majorly CLEANED UP!!!!!!!!!  I asked for a fabric wallet and alwaysinmyroom made the coolest most amazing wallet ever!

Here's a photo of what she sent which includes the killer wallet, a cute little pack of kleenex, a cd that her husband made (!) and a POOPING REINDEER!!

Check out the AWESOME tattoo fabric that she used!  Ahhhh!!! I love it!!

Here's the inside of the wallet, see the little chili pepper wallet poking out?  It's so cute!

And here's a close up of the coolest reindeer (he poops jellybeans):

On top of all of this crafty goodness she sent the nicest note explaining the ordeal she went through making the wallet.  Also, the proceeds of the cd that she sent (the one her husband made) went to help the survivors of Katrina.  Which is CRAZY because I'm going to New Orleans on Friday and I love the culture there, especially the music.  She's got lots of friends there too, it's just such a serendipitous connection!

This was the best package ever!!!  Thank you so much alwaysinmyroom, you are like a craft GOD!!!!!!!!!

5  Re: Earth Day Global Recycled Swap! in The Swap Gallery by porfiry on: April 18, 2006 11:34:24 AM
I received from lady4feet today!!!!!!  Prepare to be jealous:

She made me not one, but TWO bags from old jeans:

The lining is this very soft and fuzzy red and green fleece.  They are beautiful, and I've already taken them grocery shopping with me.

She also sent notecards and envelopes made from maps, and the cards have travel-themed quotes on them (very appropriate for me as I'll soon be traveling):

And she also made me a journal with a map cover, three bottle cap buttons and two bottle cap magnets!!

I absolutely love everything, thank you so much lady4feet!

I am so lucky!!!!!!!!!!!  I finally got home from work and was able to open the package that fadeawaydream sent!!  She made me a scarf and it is SO AWESOME and beautiful and comfy!

Here it is:

And an action shot on its dorky new owner (me):

I love it, it's my favorite color, and I haven't taken it off since I got home.   Cheesy  Fadeawaydream even included a really nice note, encouraging me to keep trying to learn how to knit!  Thank you so much fadeawaydream, and thanks veludo, for organizing this month!

I received from sarahjayne!!  She sent me candy!!  What could be better to get in the mail on a gloomy Monday?  The smarties were open and had spilled all over the inside of the envelope.... I think the customs officials wanted a bit of the goodies for themselves....   Wink

Sorry about the crappy pic, and the fact that you can't see the label for one of the candies (it's violet flavored!!).  I am having a most crap-tastic day... but this package has really brightened it.  And the postcard is so completely fitting.  Thanks so much, sarahjayne!!

 Cheesy

9  Re: Jazz/Blues etc CD Swap (gallery) in The Swap Gallery by porfiry on: March 09, 2006 05:51:18 AM
I received from FRAUGHT yesterday!  She sent TWO cds, and the tracklists are awesome.  I meant to bring them along to work so that I could transpose the lists, but, well, it was early and I hadn't had coffee.... so I didn't bring them.  But, I do have photos!!

The cloth cd holder and the cd cover:

and the cds she decorated!  So cool!!

Please excuse the blinding flash reflection... the sun doesn't rise in Ohio until like 7:30, and unfortunately I am awake way before then....   Undecided

But, this swap was awesome!  Thank you krajackex and FRAUGHT for the super music, and thanks nushybum for organizing!!!  Next we should do an "obscure jazz subgenre" swap.   Grin

I received from Krajackex!  She sent an AWESOME cd, and the cover art is beautiful.  Also, she sent a saxophone decal!  It's super cool because it looks like a tenor, which is what I used to play!!   Cheesy

The pictures:

and the cd cover w/the decal:

And the super-cool playlist:
Can't We Be Friends -- Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
Chain of Fools -- Aretha Franklin
I Get Along Without You Very Well -- Linda Ronstadt
Straighten Up and Fly Right -- Linda Ronstadt
You're the Top -- Ella Fitzgerald
It's All Right With Me -- Ella
It's De-Lovely -- Ella
Take the A-Train -- Duke Ellington
Dewey -- The Yellowjackets
Freddie Freeloader -- Miles Davis
Soulful Strut -- The Astronauts
Cowbell Boogie -- Fred Jackson (ha!  I put this on her cd, too!!)
Bubble House -- Medeski, Martin & Wood
Jelly Belly -- Medeski, Martin & Wood
River Waltz -- The Yellowjackets
Azure Moon -- The Yellowjackets
Untitled -- Unknown (the tune is Stompin' At the Savoy and it sounds like Milt Jackson?)

The cd is GREAT!  Thanks Krajackex, and thanks Nushybum for organizing this awesome swap.   Wink
