Hahaha, that "mess" is how my house looks 3 seconds after the kids come back in the room

Haha, I'm so tired, I'm sitting here going, "why would she ruffle the front bottom of the onesie?"

After reading the other posts and having it dawn on me that its a ruffle-bum onesie, I love it

I've been looking everywhere for a underskirt that would give the needed amount of fluff and poof, thank you so much for this tutorial. Apparently it isnt as hard as I thought it was lol (how many times do we say that in the end?  )

I have seen somethings on here that have this feature, but dismally when I go to find them to show you, I cannot locate them

Never fear! I know of the technique and its really quite simple. If I remember correctly its all about taking the current skirt and tacking it to make the different layers. Oh never mind I'll just paint on it and show you what I mean.

Now, imagine the skirt is floor length... Now grab a small section and pull it up, and tuck it under the above fabric.. then stitch it there. (pink is tucked sections, blue is stitching)
Then go along and do that every so often varying your amounts you tuck and stitch as you go.

So I have convinced most of my friends to let me rummage through the clothes they give away before they actually get to give them away and I saw this cute red Tee that immediately made me think of doing this onesie.  Since fourth of July was coming up and baby had nothing patriotic to wear, this was the fix

I just very carefully cut out the butterfly from the red tee shirt. I sealed the edges with that fabric glue stuff. I literally glued it onto the shirt with Elmer's glue, went around the edges on my sewing machine and clear thread, and then washed it. She had a matching skirt made out of the rest of the red tee shirt but I cant find it lol.
