15  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Day of the Dead Shrine on: September 25, 2011 12:25:38 PM
This shrine was inspired by Hellzapopper. She posted an amazing painted Day of the Dead Holy Family and I was smitten. When I approached Teachart about a personal swap, this is what I made for her.

It started with a little Virgin Mary statue from the thrift shop and a little box made to hold car keys.

The statue was painted and the door to the box was removed & cut into 2, so it could open from the center. After several coats of paint and paper, I added Mary, lots of vintage jewelry and candles. Cut paper banners hang in the back. The 2 ovals on the inside of the doors are meant for pictures of loves ones who have past away. I left them blank so Teachart could personalize it.

I had a difficult time parting with her, but you should see what I got in return! But that's another post. I love making shrines and hope to start a collection, so anyone who's interested in a personal swap, please PM me.

Thanks for looking!

I ADORE this entire outfit! BRAVO! All I would need is a pair of super highheeled, red, patent leather shoes! Everything about this look is perfect! I wouldn't sweat the hem detail- I wouldn't have even noticed had you not pointed it out. Actually, even after you pointed it out, I still didn't notice. If you would like to send this outfit to me, your generousity would be greatly appreciated! Wink
