3  HELP! My knitting doesn't look right. in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by CleanFeelin on: August 10, 2011 12:43:42 PM
So I know how to knit and I just recently learned how to do cables.

Now here's the thing, I know how to knit cables, it just doesn't look right.  Here is an example below, from my first cable project.

Is the problem the way I hold the yarn because I don't hold it properly?  Is it a question of the tension of the yarn?

I have no idea.  It looks more knotted than knitted.

Oh and one more fyi my knitted is loose compared to how I crochet, which is very tight.

I really appreciate any help that you could give.

4  Re: Craft This Tote (and fill it) GALLERY! (Send out by Aug. 1st, 2011) in The Swap Gallery by CleanFeelin on: August 10, 2011 11:51:40 AM
So I FINALLY FOUND my camera cord to upload pictures.  It was basically staring me in the face.

Anyways here are the goods that kitiza sent

The tote with a lovely flower on front:

The crafted goods: a cute little pillow I will probably use as a pin cushion, a headband, and some fabulously bright flower earrings.

Some extras I cannot wait to try:

Thank you kitiza, it was great swapping with you!

So I am pretty much brain dead from being out in the sun too long.  I took pictures and uploaded them but didn't take a picture of one of the items and thought that I already posted pictures.  ANYWAYS here are most of the goods that Sweety sent me, I am missing the yellow summer shawl that she made me but I WILL take a picture tonight and post shortly.  Without further ado:

I got Five Balls of Cotton Yarn

Along with Scrapbooking supplies

Yellow Summer Shawl

I loved everything that was sent and will definitely use it all!  Sorry for posting pictures so late.

7  Re: Make-a-Friend Swap Round 7 :: CLOSED~! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by CleanFeelin on: June 16, 2011 10:58:21 AM
Still working on package 2.  I can't start one item til next week when i borrow an item from my dad.  If everything goes well i should be sending by the end of next week.

I have to post this because I am so excited but the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup last night!!! I am sooo pumped, not sure if anyone else watches hockey (more specifically the bruins) but it's been 39 years since we have won and it's coming home!

(sorry to any Vancouver fans, it was a good game though!)

That's Zdeno Chara holding the cup - Fun fact we have the same birthday March 18th!

I am so glad you liked everything Sweety!  I totally forgot to include a bio about myself, so I will make sure to write something up in the next package.  We sent very similar things to each other which was really funny.

I received from Sweety as well and here are my goods:

The Lot of things I got

A kitchen essential- A washrag and ninja cookie cutters which I can't wait to use!

Favorite color is green - A cute green box with buttons and origami stars, this is going to brighten up my computer desk

Made out of paper - Note cards and a small jar of origami stars

Smells good - Two small bottle of body spray (these are going right in my purse)

Related to yarn - Summer slouchy hat (I immediately put this on and loved it)

Something to wear - A green scarf and super cute necklace (that I immediately put on when I saw it)

Favorite character - Hello Kitty pencils and tattoos

Summer essential - Water bottle carrier and lip gloss (which will also go right in my bag)

Edible - Twizzlers, I am totally bringing these to work to snack on

I received a great kit from AprilnAutumn.

She sent me some stitch markers, stitch counter, double pointed needles, a pattern to make the dish cloth she sent, a great stitch book with 99 patterns, as well as some great clear cut explanations/instructions on how to make cables.

I am starting slow and practicing a couple of the stitches from the book before I attempt the pattern that you sent me.

Thanks so much!

I received from Bourgeois on Saturday and I have been obsessed with the package since I have opened it, thus the reason for taking so long to post pictures.

She sent a great package, I didn't get a shot of everything together.  But here are the instructions.  It includes a pattern for making a simple hat, an icord, a yarn covered bangle, and instructions with pictures on what the knitting in the round should look like.  But she also threw in a great book on knitting stitches that I can practice now.

Here are the tools she sent, a set of double ended knitting needles,  a bangle, a measuring tape, a darning needle, and circular knitting needles, but where did they go?

They are already in use and working on the hat project!  Told you I was obsessed, I literally had to tear myself away to take pictures.  The red yarn did not photograph well at all, but it's a great color and fiber to work with.  I also learned how to use a stitch marker as well! woot woot.

Here is another great yarn that she sent, a superwash merino.  Such a great color to work with.

My tools came in this great box, it will be useful to keep my knitting stuff seperate from my crochet stuff.

Thank you Bourgeois!  I really appreciate the package you sent me and cannot wait to finish my first project!  Grin
