Thank you for the lovely comments =) It may be a while before we start another big project, but looking forward to other internet/gaming-related memes Tongue

Oh my stars!  I get tired of weaving the ends in, just looking at this. Fabulous.

Hubby helped weave the ends in while I was making the squares, so it made the process a lot quicker!

Made with 637 granny squares. Took about 9 weeks to construct and assemble on and off. Even the hubby helped with the weaving in of the yarn tails!

Here is a time lapse video that we did:

That is so awesome! I wish I was better at making larger projects like this, I keep working on my discipline.

Thanks =) It did get a little tiring doing the same square all the time, but the final product was worth it!

Your Cap looks amazing, and you have inspired me.

That is so cool. I may have to puzzle out a Superman Chibi for a friend for next year.

What sort of squares did you use for it?

I used a book called 200 crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans. It was the beginning two rounds of the pattern "pinstripes". Below is all in US terms.
3ch (counts as 1dc), *[2dc, 1trc] into next dc, [1trc, 2dc] into next dc (corner made)** 1dc into next dr, repeat from * until you arrive at the original 3 ch, join with slip stitch
Then I just sc into all of the dcs in the previous row, with 2sc into every trc.

Hope that made sense!

Nice work on that--did you just sketch it out on graph paper?

I did! And it's only now that I'm making a secret larger rug project that I thought of using excel grids instead.

An early present for a friend, who's a fan of Cap and Tony Tongue

The "pattern" was originally created by pixelpeople on Tumblr.

The whole thing weighed about half a kg when completed.
