This is for my mentor "Mimi" and her orange cat "Gary". The embroidery pattern is from Red Brolly. I outlined it with reproduction 1930's fabric and then stitched in the ditch to quilt it. Smiley

45  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dia De Los Muertos Rag Doll on: March 14, 2010 05:19:20 PM
I have been wanting a Dia De Los Muertos rag doll for quite some time. This weekend I decided to make one. I used supplies I had in my stash and the yarn was donated to me by my MIL-to-be. She took around 20 hours to make and I enjoyed every moment.

Here she is.................

This last picture has my seven week old chihuahua, Ignacio ( AKA- Nacho ) , taking a nap. His mommy attacked the doll and tried to carry it out of the room. I guess she doesn't like it. Wink
46  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Bags on: February 18, 2010 09:44:28 AM
I had an over abundance of clothes that no one wore anymore. I made a pile of things to keep and things to give away. After the mess was gone, I took a pair of scissors to the pile of things I kept. This is what I made..........................

Two backpacks and a laundry bag

50  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Door Hanging UPDATED with New Pictures on: February 17, 2010 09:49:43 AM
She won a blue ribbon   Grin

I hope these pictures are alright. My camera is old and the quality is really lacking.

I read a book about India and all the fabulous artwork done by the people. I decided I wanted to have a door hanging and since I didn't have $1000.00 to spend I decided to make one myself. I started out with just a small drawing I made on a piece of white flannel. ( one of the elephants ) It grew from there. I taught myself how to sew on the mirror circles from a book I found at my local library. The stitches I chose had no rhyme or reason.

Thank you for looking at my door hanging.
