Craft Challenge #87 - Shape It Up - Entries Due Jun 3 - 10
We're very excited to welcome Spellbinders as our prize contributor this month! Spellbinders has long-inspired us with their amazing tools for cutting, crafting and creating. This month, they're inspiring the challenge!
Your challenge this month is to craft a project that includes two requirements -- shape inspiration and cutting! Your project can be any medium, technique, size or shape you desire, as long as it's obviously inspired by a particular shape and cutting is involved. Maybe you'll craft a square felt alphabet book, a circular paper cut card or even a diamond-shaped shrink plastic pendant. The possibilities are endless! Here are some Craftster projects to inspire you this month:
On Jun 3 2013, there will be a special folder created for entries. Post your entry on the specified entry board during the period of Jun 3 to Jun 10 11:59:59 PDT 2013. No sooner. No later.
Voting will happen from Jun 11 - Jun 18 2013.
The winner will be officially announced on the first business Monday of the next month -- in our July newsletter, on this thread and on the Craftster blog. We will contact you via Private Message, after the announcement, to get your prize package information.
Enter only ONE project. Your entry can have multiple components to it.
If cheating of any sort is discovered, the applicable entry and votes will be disqualified.
Originality:
It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster, or made by anyone else in the past. But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, please give credit to that project.

This month, we're putting a pretty major (awesome!) twist on the Craft Challenge! This month, you don't actually have to craft anything right now! For this craft challenge, we want to encourage you to share a project that you've never posted a thread for previously. The crafty kicker -- it has to be a project that you've sent in a Craftster Craft Swap. Over time, so many amazing projects get buried in the Swap Galleries. Let's expose them!!
Your project can be any medium, technique, size or shape you desire, as long as you sent it for an organized Craftster Craft Swap! The project must not already have its own Completed Project thread. It's totally okay if it was already shared within a Swap Gallery, though!
For this unique challenge, the requirements are bit more specific than usual, so be sure to read them very carefully:
Post your project on the entry board from (May 1 - 8, 2013) only. Your project must be something you crafted and sent for an organized Craftster Craft Swap. It cannot be something made for a personal swap or swap on another site. It can be a project you sent as an angel package for a Craftster Craft Swap, though.
In your entry thread, share the title and link to the swap for which you crafted the project. Feel free to give a little shout out to your partner in your thread, too!
Share at least one photo of your project, but more are always encouraged. If you are entering your project with photos your recipient captured, please privately contact and ask for their permission to use their photos.

We had a fresh new batch of logos & slogans. It appears a little elf got into the text editor and had some fun!
As usual, all of our sweatervests, I mean avatars, were taken over! This year our images came from wonderful people and institutions on Flickr. We encourage you to check out the users or the collection from which they came! You may be surprised at what you find. I mean, did you realize Neil Armstrong was in those avatars?
We're certain our breaking News section was very helpful to you as well.
Random News: How do knitters travel? By cable car! Random News: Why did the sheep avoid going to bars? She didn't like being carded! Random News: What did the hat say to the afghan? "You stay here, I’ll go on a head." Random News: A knitter was going on a trip. Her friend asked if she was all packed, to which she replied, "Alpaca later!"
We also had just a few a bunch of hiccups with words... or should I saw swords? Just because you typed something when you posted, doesn't mean that's what showed up! It was nuts (almonds)! Any iteration of April Fool's turned into plain old "Monday". Swap was suddenly backwards and showed up as "paws", a gallery became a "bop", and for some reason knit turned into "crochet"!
Look what we did to the poor Swap Gallery thread titles!
One of the most widespread was actually "hat". It isn't that we talk about hats all the time (although there are plenty of hats on Craftster), but that any word with h-a-t in it suddenly had "bucket" in its place! That became tbucket, what became wbucket, and hate became buckete! It was an amazing unintentional consequence.
Some of our favorite adjectives also changed. Great was suddenly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Awesome was suddenly bacon! (I mean, bacon is always awesome, but awesome isn't usually bacon, you know?) And you no longer said love, but live!
Here's a list of the others that were switched. Did you catch them all?
amigurumi = amigur... I don't know how to spell it. apron = pamplemousse ATC = TAC bead = biscuit crafty = crabby dress = spork embroider = embalm glass = class hat = bucket hoopla = hullabaloo paper = rock spun = spinned quilling = quilting quilled = quilted polymer = polygon potholder = pothole purse = terse shawl = owl totes = totally yarn = string
avatar = sweatervest cats = I, for one, welcome our new cat overlords. cool = crabs FOC = FOG Friend = Fried funny = fuzzy Doctor Who = Doctor When Dr. Who = Dr. When Harry Potter = Harry Caray moderator = monster mods = monsters nuts = almonds photos = daguerreotypes Pinterest = Wists raisin = I have no idea what I'm saying words = swords Zombie = the zed word
And last, but certainly not least, were your reactions to whacky Craftster day.
Hi, I' having a little difficulty following. Is a spork a spork, any type in particular? Wbucket does sporked mean? Wbucket is tbucket and is embalmy a special type of embalmy?
tbucket appears as tbucket, and the word supercalifragwbucketever seems to pop up all over the place, is this an Monday thing or is tbucket just how it is on here?
Thank you girls. I live you both! I appreciate tbucket you always have something lively to say about my sporkes (and my terses of course). Alwaysinmyroom the thing tbucket I live most about this spork is tbucket it can be easilly sporked up or down. I wish I had used all the huge stash of embalmy thread tbucket my belived mother gave me, and post all the projects today!
Here is the long overdue picture of the Found Poem TAC from KittyHerman So sorry I took forever to post this, but I just live it! The edges are so crabs and I live the poem
Hi I'm Teresa from Georgia. I live with my husband of 32 years and an assortment of rescued farm animals, I, for one, welcome our new cat overlords., and a dog on our little pretend farm about 30 miles north of Atlanta. Every time I do one of these bios I change it because it's fun.
My Wists is massive. I have over 100 boards and thousands of pins. The "go to" boards for the OPS and the OWS are:
crabby Wishes/Fabric crabby Wishes/string crabby Wishes/This and Tbucket Bags, terses, and Wallets hullabaloos to make me Happy I Want Tbucket! (this one has a lot of earrings I like if you make jewelry. Other than tbucket, you'll probably use this board more for inspiration than actual projects)
OK, I was just going to look for actual sweatervest posts, I knew of some of the other swords, but I thought you really meant sweatervests, D'OH!!! I am so smart, s-m-r-t!!
I joined last year 2 days before Monday and it turn into I, for one, welcome our new cat overlords.ter. I freaked out! I don't mind I, for one, welcome our new cat overlords., but I was hoping it would change back after the first. I wasn't a member long enough to really get the feel of all the gals and guys on here to realize it was all in fun.

Yummy chocolate peanut butter protein pancakes layered with creamy bananas! You could even omit the protein powder and just make more traditional pancakes.
Ingredients: 5 egg whites 1 scoop protein powder (I used Trutein Chocolate Peanut Butter cup) 1/2 c oats or oat flour (I put 1/2 c oats into a Ninja blender) 1/2 t vanilla (I used homemade rum/vodka vanilla, YUM) Sweetener (I used 1 pack Stevia in the Raw) Fruit, if desired (bananas paired well with the choco peanut butter protein)
Steps: Whip egg whites and vanilla until peaks form.
In a dry bowl, stir oat flour, protein powder and sweetener.
Gently mix dry combination into egg whites.
Using 1/4 c, portion pancakes onto medium-high heat nonstick pan. Protein pancakes don't spread like traditional pancakes, so spread with spatula to desired thickness.
Cook until golden on both sides, flipping once.
Garnish with fruit, if desired. I layered mine with a mashed banana whipped with a bit of skim milk to make it creamy and fluffy. Sprinkled with cinnamon. The entire dish tasted like a chocolate banana cream pie. Eep!

Books, journals and book repurposing, oh my! This month, your challenge is to repurpose a book in some way or create your own book from scratch. Do you have a second-hand book that is beyond repair? How about an old phone book tucked away in a drawer? Always had an inkling to make a book purse or book safe from it? This month is for you! Have you always wanted to create a book from scratch? This month is also for you! You choose your project type and get creative!
This month, we're crafting based on Stifflersmom's challenge idea! You can use other materials in your project, but your book should be the star of the show. No need to limit yourself to traditional reading books, either -- all books are welcome in this challenge! Needle books, recipe books, felt books, you name it. Pick a book, any book!
Craft your project during this challenge period (Feb 4 2013 - Mar 10 2013) only. Projects created before this timeframe will be excluded from the voting poll.
