641  Re: Black and White Photo- Alnwick Castle in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sweets4ever on: September 25, 2006 05:04:49 AM
Thanks so much!  Grin

First off, I just want to make clear I realllly like this photo...hehe!  The only reason I wanted to post edits is because I love editing beautiful images & seeing what I can create from them.  Smiley  I am also horribly jealous that you have access to a castle for photos!!

Here are two... I frame it in black because I find it easier to pull from the forum's background colors (I used the default layout, so it has some grey in it & it's a bit difficult to focus on the photo against the bkground...for me, at least).

I think it's a bit darker than I wanted it, but I'm on a laptop this morning.  Sad  Oh well, I still have fun!   Grin

I'm a sucker for rain-kissed flowers on rainy days.
...I can't help it!  Cheesy

awesome buttons!  Marmota, I used thread that matched my fabric  Grin

Thanks!  Maybe I had a little too much fun...hehe.

what fabrics did you use, besides velvet? It looks lovely!

The other fabric is just a plain cotton blend I believe.  I had never really bought fabric or sewed much other than some pillows made from sweaters in a swap right before that one, lol.  Cheesy  I wasn't sure what I was looking for in the fabric department so after I found the velvet, I just went on a mission to find something that would match.  Smiley  The velvet was so hard to sew!!  It kept sliding around...grr.

Sweets:  Thanks for posting more pics of yours...I was about to go looking, becasue I remember how plush it looked, and thought some deep red and gold velvet would make WONDERFUL ornaments for the tree...but I really love your joining embellishments too......

You're welcome!  Smiley  Wow...that would be a beautiful tree color combo!!  I decorate my tree with ribbons, beaded garland, baby's breath, pine cones and bows all in golds and deep reds so I think I might have to steal your idea - if you don't mind, that is!  OHHH.. it would look so pretty on my tree here...

I use beads, buttons, sequins and jewelry parts on the one I made for sweet Fidget.  I just mix 'em up until I get whatever look I'm going for.

Here are some I used on this one http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=116525.0

jmi stalked me & my Wists and sent me a TON of stuff!!

First...she sent us an engagement card!!
And the quote inside is soooo sweet, "A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, Always with the same person.  Mignon McLaughlin."
The other card, well, it's just fitting... tee hee.
It says, "Thinking of You" on the inside.  Wink

A kit!!  I want to learn how to knit and crochet, so any help at this point...is GOOD STUFF.
Yarn, pins, patterns, hook, scissors & measuring tape!!

All the little stuff was in this AWESOME MC Escher box!
She stalked me!!  hehee... I love jMi, I love Escher and now I love this box.
The finish is awesome!

The inside has another MC Escher print.  *swoon*

Lots of jewelry!!
She made it all, even the buttons!
The earrings and necklace are DEE-VINE, divine, I tell you!

The necklace is shell and beautifully shimmery.

Momma got a new book!
I love craft books and I have very few Sad so this makes me VERY happy!

Wooohooo!  A new journal, liittle ellie notecards, beachy bookmarks and a little pin (not pictured)!  An incense burner and this crazy on the cob popcorn that I'm afraid to make because then it will be all gone!

A gorgeous tote bag!!
It's humongo and lined and more beautiful than anything I could ever hope to create.
So much love for this bag!!  Kiss

At the moment, this is my favorite piece...although my favorite changes everytime I start playing with everything again.
It's a tribute to my penguins!!  It's also her first quilted piece (I don't believe her)!
I can't decide where to put him though.. I think he is going to end up on my desk, which I am going to clean JUST so I can display him there.  Smiley

Sweets: good call on the magnets! The fuzzies came with dorky sayings on ribbons attached to them, so I cut them off, but I wasn't sure how to attach my name to them without losing the ability to stick them anywhere. I even have magnets I can attach them to!

Maybe you could use this tutorial (it looks super inexpensive & easy) to "brand" some thin ribbon with your Etsy address:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=40044.0  Then take one & loop it under his bum so when you attach the magnet, you are attaching the little loop tag in the same step.

This is what I'm picturing... with your shop being printed on the little ribbon loop.  It's still super cute & not an overbearing advertisement, so that people wouldn't mind it on their fridge like one of those big old "SHOP HERE!" flat magnets.  Smiley

I feel like he's watching me so I don't any diet-cheating food out of the fridge, lol.

What a great idea sweets!  If you want to send me your ideas, I can see what I can do. Cheesy

Hehe...I'm just playing.  I just like giving you ideas because you seem to completely understand what's going on in my mind.  Smiley

OH...and Vancy (jMi's Mom) can build AmysBabies' closets/travel trunks & you can pack them a whole set with their lil outfits.  LOL!  My mom gave me this & a poem when I was "leaving home" after I graduated high school...it was a really sentimental moment & a great gift.  Smiley

Okay... I'm going to go craft something & calm down now.  I promise.

I love the cord cases!  I use some of my little pouches for all my darned USB cables and they are very handy!
