641  Spider slave bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by sweets4ever on: August 27, 2006 04:05:29 AM
I made this 'lil bugger (ha ha!) for a swap... Smiley  My hand model is a bit small in comparison to real life, but she rested perfectly on the palm of my hand.

I guess the fly is in case she gets hungry...  Cheesy

643  Starry Night...part deux! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by sweets4ever on: August 27, 2006 03:16:41 AM
I received a request for a Starry Night & since I couldn't pry the original from my fiance's paws... I made another!   Grin

I actually like this one better, but shhh.  LOL  Smiley  I've been melting quite a bit since the original & have improved some of my processes!  This one is much smoother and more glass-like.

The stars & moon glow in the dark on this one as well.  Smiley

Here's what I sent shylitlegoddess for an angel package.  Smiley
I did lots of stalking *cackle* and found out some really neat things about her...buhaha... Wink

I beaded a pillow as a spider web & then made a lil dangly spider for it (I didn't make the pillow Sad, I just beaded it)

I made her a little box that is supposed to look like an itty bitty trunk.
She wanted a box or Altoid tin.  It used to be a plain box...it's full of stuff I thought she would like...little gemstones, feathers, a dragonfly, some other stuff Wink

I've never used resin, but I sure have melted some beads!  So I melted some clear beads & encapsulated a spider (a rhinestone spider...Wink) for a keychain.

A little drawstring pouch...

A fork bracelet (she had one Wisted) with some amethyst cause she like purrrrple!  Smiley

Some glass bead & Swarovski crystal earrings...

Another box, but much bigger.  It was a plain wood box as well.
I dremelled the lid to make a fairy-like design, used watercolor pencils to add a bit of color, then sealed it all in.  I lined it with her pouch fabric and add some other little embellishments.
The inside image is from http://www.designsbywillow.com/  It's called "Spring's Arrival."

A goddess necklace...

A spider slave bracelet/ring...

Her box fulla goodies...

645  Re: The Great Craftster Scavenger Hunt Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sweets4ever on: August 25, 2006 11:08:42 AM
Okies!  Here's my prize loot!   Shocked  I took closer pix of the swap participants' contributions & then one big shot of the mondo bunch of Sampler goods.  Smiley

Here's everything as it arrived.   Smiley

Lots of Sampler goodies!  I think these are from Kaesea's stash...but yell at me I'm wrong.  Smiley
Kind of counter-clockwise...
  • A heart/skulls card
  • Stuffed birdie ornament
  • Game piece pin
  • Zine
  • Cutest little ladybug mini clothes pin
  • Button pins...lots of them!
  • A marble magnet
  • Geisha girl keychain
  • A patch
  • Coffee soap
  • Goddess bookplate
  • Cellphone charm (I think)

From xladyluckx!  An awesome, double-sided slide necklace!  It's so cute!!  Not to mention her packaging.  Smiley  It says, "star-watching"  "Now what a sight!" and has an adorable lil' astronaut and rockets.   Grin

From SewPixie!  Two buttons & a "I (heart) craftster dot org" sticker!  The buttons are hella rad... scissor skull and "Craftster.org Uncork the Possibilities"  Cheesy

From Aeronberry!  This beautiful stuffed crane!  I love the fabric & he's weighted in his bottom so he won't fly the coop!  Cheesy

And last, but obviously not least, from Stifflersmom!

A beautiful reconned Altoid tin & cuff.  I wish I captured the sparkles & colors of the lid better in the photo.  Sad  There are micro beads, seed beads, long beads and medium beads all stuck together!  I'm not sure how...resin maybe?  Yowser...I'm in love with the cuff; it's my favorite.   Grin

Inside the tin is a mermaid stamp and she's netted in there!  Cheesy  The tins have melted bead lids...they have a special place in my heart.  Smiley  Tee hee!

After the first Altoid swap, she sent me some of these tins so I would participate in the next swap.  Later, I melted beads in the lid of one of them.  Last week, I sent my melted creation off in a personal swap.  This week...I got 3 of hers!  It's my destiny to have these tins in my possession you see.   Cheesy

Thank you everyone... I loves everything... it's amazing you could all contribute such perfect pieces w/o knowing who you were crafting for!  *hugs*   Kiss

646  My lil' diaper cake in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by sweets4ever on: August 20, 2006 10:05:55 PM
My first cake... I'm so proud.  Cheesy

The base is a scrapbook (in a box) secured with ribbon so the actual cake won't slide off.  The topper is a Precious Moments teddy.  The filling is 42, size 1 Pampers (layered, not rolled) & the frosting is blue with a thin layer of black & white polka dots.  Num!  Grin

647  Re: How's Your etsy Shop Doing? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by sweets4ever on: August 19, 2006 12:50:58 PM
I can see both points of view...

Lasandri, you are schooled and skilled and more than professionally qualified to be able to charge big money for logo jobs (not saying that you do, lol!  Just saying that you could, and it would be totally understandable in my opinion).

On the other end of the spectrum is us...you know us, we're the hobby graphic designers, the dreamers, the dabblers, the admirers of you, the actual graphic designer.  Cheesy

Just to be sure I'm not coming across wrong...I'm not saying that professional graphic designers overcharge or that people like me undercharge.  I am saying that for an Etsy shop just opening, that may or may not make $50 (in actual profit, not gross) its first quarter of existence, $7 is actually a little splurge.  It might be like comparing a lemonade stand's expenses to Country Time Lemonade's expenses.

And to give credit to my girl, jMi... quite a lovely splurge!  Lovin' those banners... great job!   Grin

Okies... who wants our soapbox next?    You can borrow my if anyone wants it, too.  Grin

648  Re: How's Your etsy Shop Doing? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by sweets4ever on: August 16, 2006 02:50:59 PM
okay, i'm really perplexed.
i've never had anything get so few views in a day as this little goodie i posted this morning: http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=389488.
should i unlist it?  i'm so confused.  what's wrong with it?

I wouldn't buy it, but I think it's cute.  Maybe (and this is a total maybe) use a different picture.  I shop from the sampler screens & category screens, so 9 times out of 10, the first impression I get is from the main thumbnail of a piece.  If it doesn't catch my eye, I usually won't go to the details of the item & I'll pass right by it.  Your photo is so upclose, it almost doesn't look like a checkbook cover, it kinda just looks like a rectangular pouch of some sort, leaning up against something for the picture.  This is harder to explain than I thought!  Undecided

But this is the first impression I get of it...

649  Re: What can organizers do about lousy swap items/disappointed swappers? in Talk About The Swap Process by sweets4ever on: August 16, 2006 09:41:49 AM
sweets4ever, thank you for posting that. That's what I was trying to say, but you put it in a much nicer way.

You're welcome.  Smiley

Basically, the answer to this thread topic is...nothing.

Swapping is somewhat of a crafty gamble and you have to be willing to accept that if you are going to participate in swaps.  Sometimes you are going to swap with someone who just plain doesn't have that same supreme level of crafting ability as yourself, can't afford to buy expensive fabrics, had a life trauma and had to rush to complete a craft at the last minute, etc.  We won't distribute scorecards for each item/package in a swap and no one is going to get voted off the island no matter how much you don't like the pillow case you received that looks more like an oven mitt than any pillow case you've ever seen.

If you truly think there is a problem (they sent you cigarette butts, fabric that could only be identified as what used to be the lining from a pair of boxer shorts, anthrax (not the heavy metal band, because perhaps you have them on your Wists Tongue), a whole package of items with the price tags still attached, a piece of notebook paper with the words "I owe you" scribbled upon it, etc.), then contact a swap mod or use the Help Desk and open a ticket and assign it as a "Swap-related" ticket and we'll do the best we can to investigate the issue, find a resolution and prevent future occurrences.

Otherwise, post pictures in the gallery, give them a simple "thank you" and go on to your next swap or choose not to participate in future swaps.  I know everyone likes to vent, but this thread and a similar thread have turned into rants against specific items, partners and swaps rather than any form of closure or solutions...

Thanks  Kiss

Hehehe.  If someone's ears burn when you talk about them, she's probably got a headache from all of our fussin' around, lol.
