Okay, this is probably the lamest thing ever that I am claiming as a "craft".  But... it was a WIP, and it's done, and theoretically it counts under the January theme of organization...so...without further adieu:

I found this absolutely hideous wooden tray with ducks on it at a thrift store for about 50 cents.  So, I took this green glitter paint that I had (Michaels clearance for about $1 for a pint of it), and slathered it all over it.   It hid the ducks, and sparkled- which is always a good thing in my book.

I was looking for places to display the jewelry that I make (under the foolish delusion that I will eventually go to a craft show and sell them).  So I screwed a bunch of hooks into the side of it, but got bored and quit halfway through.

Today, I finished screwing in the hooks.  I call it a "done".  Tongue

I'll bet if you hang some jewelry on there, you'll feel better about calling it a "craft" and not just a "done". Wink

That wirework tree is fantastic! And I love the glittery roofs and the cute little gingerbread man!

When I re-read my theme list, I laughed because of how anti-winter it was. I didn't realize how sick I was of cold and gray already!

LOL that's funny because I listed a few things that are pro-winter! It's snowing today and I am one happy girl!

Well, generally I tend to like winter and I love snow, and I don't mind the cold. However, the weather we've had lately meant 10 days in a row with power outages, and now it's -11 degrees F with a wind chill to -31.
Is it wrong of me to want winter, but not as much winter?

Wow, that entrelac is beautiful! I didn't understand that this was a thing until just now. I must try it!
As it is, this double-knit hat I'm working on is going really slowly. I think today might require some youtube/netflix knitting time, especially if I'm going to finish it before the end of the month!

616  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Stitchalongs / Re: Hoopla A-Long 2013-2014 on: January 02, 2014 09:36:39 AM
I have an idea I really like for this month's challenge, and I'm struggling with not immediately dropping every other project and item on my to-do list to start on it!

C'mon self, it's only the second day of the new year. Be strong!

What other gift cards would you like to see? I was thinking Etsy, Joann's, Michaels?

Ooooooh, Etsy! That sounds fantastic!

This is extraordinary! I'd love to see the parasol too! You did a great job capturing the slambovian feel, for sure. Cheesy
619  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Shipping with the US Postal Service: FYI on: January 01, 2014 10:19:15 AM
Tacking on a US Postal question here - I was sent an international package and the tracking says it went out for delivery back on Dec. 7th. It was never delivered and the delivery information was never updated. I haven't received a reply of any kind to my e-mailed customer service inquiry. What is the best way to track down a missing international package sent by registered mail?

Hmm, I'm not an expert on the Customer Service aspect of the USPS (and frankly I really wish they'd improve it). I would say either email or phone calls would work, but you have to be extremely persistent.
I can say that I'm pretty sure tracking does not work beyond the US... different countries use different systems and generally can't scan or transmit the information back to the USPS. I'm guessing that if it says it was "delivered", that it was merely passed on to the next country at that point. And there's a good chance it's still in transit. But, if you reach someone with all of those emails and phone calls, that would be a good question to ask them.
Good luck!

Yes to de-stashing! I'm going to be losing a lot of my craft storage space this year (most likely), so I'll be trying to get rid of as much as possible. And I don't want to just make it go away, I want to make something with it! I'll also be trying to get rid of some childhood toys, so maybe I can make something out of them!

First project: Finish the hat I started in October. I'll be getting motivation from the weather forecast, which says it will be a high of -1*F tomorrow. Woo.
