211  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Dairy Free Bubble Tea (Can be Vegan-friendly!) on: September 05, 2014 08:58:34 AM
Just made my first batch! I had bought the tapioca pearls a long time ago, but was too scared to attempt the directions on the back of the package. But they're delicious! The only thing missing is the straw - guess I'll just have to go back to the local boba tea place. Wink Thanks for the tute!

That's some pretty fantastic fabric there, jfer007.

Pumpkin everything, yes indeed! Except for, um, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, because I don't like the coffee part. I DO sometimes get Starbucks to make me a chai tea latte with an additional pumpkin spice shot in it though. Yum yum!

Ooo, good idea! I don't like coffee either so the pumpkin spice didn't hold much excitement for me. UNTIL NOW.

This is pretty much the best birthday card in the history of the planet. Grin
215  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: My utter failure in peeling hardboiled eggs on: September 04, 2014 07:41:28 AM
I cook my eggs for longer than I probably should (I really don't like under-done yolks) but once they're done boiling, I dump the water, rinse under very cold water, and then leave sit in a potful of cold water (ice can help).
I also use the crack-all-over method, it's kinda fun to just toss an egg on a counter or lunch table and see people's faces. Wink And then I roll it around on the counter to get it super crunchy, and often the shell all comes off together.

Too bad I have plans this weekend. They are having a Bookmarks Festival this weekend.

Bookmarks Festival.

Oooh, that looks like fun!
217  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Mini 13 Days of Halloween Round 6 on: September 02, 2014 04:22:40 PM
Okay, I'd like to start with apologies to Sederick - he was an amazing partner that was super patient while my old computer died and I had to wait for a new one before I could post photos. It's finally here, so here goes! Oh, and a disclaimer - there was more candy when I opened the packages. Can't say where it went, probably gnomes or something. Wink
Here are all the goodies together. Can't wait to see what they all are!

And check out this awesome card that Sederick designed himself!

Day 1: An awesome hidden ghost canister! The light makes him appear! This is waaay too cool, I can't figure out how he did it! And also candy. Smiley

Day 2: A really cool pendant that was molded and cast from other decorations. I'd love to learn how to do that, too. Oh, and candy.

Day 3: Six awesome ATCs in a cute little gravestone. They're made over Magic TG cards. And candy.

My favorites: I love this Dia de los muertos cat! And the animal band is rockin', reminds me of muppets somehow. It's wonderful!

Day 4: Jack Skellington!!!!!!!! EEeeeeeeeeiloveit. He came in a cute little coffin, too. With candy!

Day 5: I got this adorable print by Sederick of a little guy from Trick r Treat. I haven't seen it, but from what I can tell from IMDB the movie isn't as cute as this dude. Oh, and a spider too. And candy.

Day 6: Lookit, velvet embossing! So cool!! And a whole boatload of charms, gee whiz. I can think of some good uses for those. Smiley And also a spider, and candy. (Sorry for the pic quality, photographing black velvet is hard)

Day 7: An adorable Halloween gnome!!! (And candy) Unfortunately its head came off in shipping, but it's got plenty of company among things that need to be glued since I moved. Roll Eyes  And when I was taking pictures, I walked through a strong beam of sunlight and discovered it GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!

Day 8: A really really awesome Dia de los Muertos painted skull luminary. I really like how this was done! And it works perfectly on the porch table while I sit out and enjoy the full(ish) moon, while I enjoy my candy. Smiley

Day 9: A cute little Halloween house, and some glow-in-the-dark stickers!

Day 10: Check out this cool candleholder with charms! And the pumpkin lights up with blue and red lights, it's like a Halloween disco up here. Smiley

Day 11: Today my partner decided to branch out from Halloween and include Doctor Who. Fine by me!!! Grin Check out this shadowbox with whovian-themed charms; there's a little adipose, dalek, TARDIS, K-9, fez and some London-y things. By the way, dangling things are notoriously hard to photograph.

Day 12: So sad it's almost over.  Cry However, I was more than glad to find this little guy in my box for today. He's so cute! Just lookit those lil earrings! Cheesy Also candy, and a spider.

I did let him out of his cage, which may have been a mistake. Some candy is now unaccounted for.

Day 13: Prepare to be jealous. Today I opened the MOST FANTASTIC tiny witch house!!! The fireplace glows, and the pumpkin and cauldron can move around. I love it so much! Lookit the little crystal on the table! And the kitty!

And I got all of this other loot too! Lotsa candy, and all sorts of stickers and embellishments!

Thank you for being such an awesome swap partner, Sederick! And thanks to lindyv321 and kittykill for organizing what has continued to be my favorite swap of the year. Grin

Well.. finished number 10.. so far so good.

I am always worried that the things I make aren't enough. I think it is the nature of swapping or art as a whole.

I can sympathize Sederick. However, I believe that whatever you send will be amazing and that everyone else will be insanely jealous. Smiley

I love real home-made spiced apple cider, with which I like to make apple cider pancakes. And cider donuts. And of course, there will always be a special place in my heart for Halloween candy. Grin

I'm progressing right along, and I found a few of the last things I needed at various stores. Still looking for one item, though. I might have to do from scratch if I can't find it in the next few days!

Hi partners! Heehee, I always feel like one of "the chosen ones" when I get partnered with the organizer. Wink I've already got some ideas rattling around in the ol' noggin.

Cool bookmark! I just got my new library card today, so I'd better send in my questionnaire. I'm gonna need some more bookmarks soon. Smiley
