21  Re: Sea Life Swap Round 2 SLS R2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lindsay614 on: May 17, 2010 06:17:11 PM
I received from Alchamy513 the same day she got my package!! Wowsa.... here's the wonderful loot! Jessica is a talented yarnie and jewelery artist! I can tell all the details and love that went into making this package, and you'll see it too...

Are you ready? Here's everything...

Stuffed whale! I loved the detail--this guy even has a blowhole! This guy just makes me smile...

Seahorse necklace--action shot. Really pretty colors!

Sea turtle charm, starfish earrings and dolphin earrings! I wear a lot of dangly earrings, so these are sure to get lots of use!

Cute stuffed penguin--I love Arctic animals! The yarn is really thick and pretty too... which leads to...

An awesome carry-all bag for me to take on vacation! I told Jessica one of my favorite things about the sea was taking cruises...hehe. Smiley This is my favorite, and I absolutely cannot wait to use this... my husband loves it too! The yarn is really thick and I think this bag is going to be very durable. It's also in two of my favorite colors, and it also reminds me of the ocean!

This is an amazing package!! Thanks so much Alchamy513--I feel very lucky to have had you as a partner!

And I'm so glad you liked all your stuff as well. I thought the batik prints would go well with your room's color scheme, so I'm really glad I went that direction!

So I just saw something I had missed before--look at the cute tag sewn into the blanket!

Love it! Where did you get these, Miss Barbara?

Okay--prepare to be amazed! I got my package from Miss Barbara yesterday, and now that I've had a chance to take photos, I cannot wait to share her goodness with everyone!

Here's the whole group!! Lovely crocheted lap blanket in the background, cute green scarf(!), fingerless gloves (gray and purple stripe--LOVE the colors on these), plush owl (ahhh, so cute!), and possibly my favorite, though it's hard to choose--A Mario Star plushie from my Wist! Plus, Miss Barbara was kind enough to throw in some extras, Mario candy/mints and some cute little mushroom charms/doodads. Smiley

Here's me modeling one of the fingerless gloves. They fit...like a glove, actually! Ahh, my friends are going to be so jealous...

Close-up shot of the super-cute owl plushie and Mario goodies! I think I'm going to start collecting Mario goodies for a someday nursery.   Cheesy Also, love the mushrooms--they are so tiny and cute!

Scarf action shot! I cannot wait to start wearing this in the fall!!!

And here is the lap blanket all spread out. This is almost positively going to be on my lap when I'm in the living room enjoying some quality reality TV.

Thank you so much Miss Barbara! I feel like you know me so well, and the colors are just great!! It was so much fun swapping with you...And now that I know we both love owls, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of each other in the next swap!

So imagine how ecstatic I was to come home to a HUGE box of goodies from my swap angel, The Platypus Project! She drew lovely little owls on the outside of the box, to tease me about all the goodies inside...

And I opened it to find ALL this!!! Group shot:

First, a beautiful fabric storage box (floral inside, neutral outside), with tons of chocolate and peanut butter treats from Trader Joe's! Licorice, candy bars, Altoids... wow, wow, wow. Spoiled!! You know I opened the peanut butter cups within moments of unwrapping my package!

Some beautiful fabric straight from my Wist! AWESOME! Six varieties of a half-yard each, and the Etsy seller even threw in a free fat quarter. Smiley

Notions, displayed on top of a beautiful thread catcher/pin cushion set! Rick rack, ribbon, leaf pins, bias tape (check out the close up of the screen-printed birds bias tape--how cool! I've never seen anything like that!), in my favorite colors, green and brown.  Grin

Too much good stuff in the shot! An amazing, beautiful sewing machine cover (I had on my Wist) and a funky Macbook sleeve made from IKEA fabric (I LOVE it and I've actually looked at this fabric before on eBay! All inspired by items on my survey/Wist!)

Not one, but two sewing books that I am stoked to read! I've never peaked through either of these, even at the library, so I couldn't be more thrilled to bust them open. Excited to try some of the clothes in Chic & Simple, and I've been eyeing the Patchwork book on Amazon for some time now! Cheesy

One of the first things I opened, and I immediately loved it! A bird appliqued zipper pouch with pretty polka dot lining. Grin Did I mention she threw in a bag of cute buttons that go great with my new fabric??? I love buttons!

Close up of the awesome sewing machine cover! I'm excited to "graduate" from the dining room to my own sewing/crafting room very soon, so I told The Platypus Project she could help me with a decorating scheme. This is so beautiful! I can't believe you thought I might "hate" the fabric--I am so in love with it all!!

Another close up of the books and buttons. I'm afraid I didn't get a good close up, but she also threw in a pair of tiny green scissors in a leather case (love scissors!) and a bar of handmade soap!

Tatjana, I am overwhelmed by this angel package, and you have truly outdone yourself! I can't even tell what your medium item is, because I think you threw in like five or six of them! hahaha....and all those extras!

It has been so wonderful to chat with you about your oh-so-cute bulldog pups and I'm so grateful to have "met" you. Everything is beautifully made, and will be put to use in my new crafting room, and the Macbook sleeve is going to be so awesome for throwing in my bag on trips. Before this swap, I'd never heard of a thread catcher, and I was thinking about making one, but you were just one step ahead of me! So, so awesome!

Can someone please give this swap angel her wings?? Pretty positive she's earned them like ten times over.  Wink

Hello! I received from tracethekat, and opening my package was so much fun! I squealed with delight...

1) A picture frame decked out with common grammatical errors (I'm an editor for my full-time job, so this fits me perfectly!)

2) A cute amigurumi coffee cup from my Wist! This is going in a prominent place in my new craft room--sooo cute! I'm a total nerd over inanimate objects with cute faces... I just want them all.  Cheesy

3) And finally, my very own rose, inspired by the reality TV show, The Bachelor! This is so creative, and perfect for me, because I am a total nerd over this show and blog about every episode! (http://twitter.com/BachelorNews if you think I'm joking... I'm literally obsessed.)

Ahhh, thank you so much tracethekat! You were a wonderful swap trio partner! I can't pick a favorite, because I love them all!

Hi guys! My partner received today, so I'm posting photos at her request!  Thank you Miss Barbara for all the kind words. I had lots of fun making this package, because it encouraged me to try making some new stuff!

This is a description of the items from Miss Barbara, posted to the original thread:

I just KNEW I had a good partner in Lindsay614, and I was RIGHT!  Not only did she send early, but she gave me the DC# as well, and was so generous, thoughful, and just plain wonderful in her items she made!

I have great difficulty posting photos to Craftster, so I will PM Lindsay after this, and she agreed to post photos.  However, I would like to give a detailed description of what she sent:

1)  FOUR lunch/snack bags made out of oilcloth for my daughter's daily lunches and snacks for school.  I felt bad using plastic everyday and throwing it away, and these bags are a beautiful and Earth-friendly solution.  She even used really cool cherry pattern/seafoam green colored oilcloth, and red with white polkadot oilcloth for the bags.  AWESOME!  Can't wait to use them!

2) SIX lavender colored napkins with sparkly striped "girly" colors fabric as an accent, and SIX lavender colored napkins with dog themed fabric as an accent.  These were also for my girls, as it was also bothering me to use the paper napkins and just throw them away every day.  Now, they will use one of these each day, and they will just get laundered at the end of the week!

3)  As "extras" for the girls, the younger girl got "Grow a Bug" "pills", and the older girl got horse stickers!  VERY THOUGHTFUL!

4)  A drawstring bag made out of ladybug fabric on the outside, and some nifty colored polka dot fabric on the inside!  NIFTY!

5)  A really cool flower/leaf/fern themed fabric on the outside, orange fabric on the inside; crochet hook holder.  My partner even sewed on buttons in random places which makes the holder even more beautiful.

6)  A orange fabric/turquoise fabric utensil holder, utensils included!  Because Lindsay 614 is such a thoughtful swap partner, she also sewed on dragonflies on it in two places, b/c I had mentioned that I like dragonflies!  I had asked for this as part of my effort to be more Earth-friendly.

7)  A BIG wallet-just like I requested-made out of that nifty polka dot fabric with a stripe of orange fabric across the front and back, with a little cutout of a ladybug sewn on the back as well!  Inside there are lots and lots of spaces for all the cards I need to carry on me (three kids, you know)...JUST LIKE I ASKED!  Thanks!

Cool Cool  A big wristlet made out of orange fabric on the outside with that cool polka dot fabric on the inside.  I like that it was made big, b/c then I can use it more.

9)  My awesome partner even included "extras" for me as well!  They are:  three bags of nuts which my husband has already claimed and said "thank you", a tin mini-pail with a cupcake on it, a pretty patterned bookmark, a ladybug book that I am going to read with my preschool class tomorrow, and some really cute cupcake cards/envelopes in a beautiful bag with butterflies on it.

MY PARTNER IS AWESOME, NIFTY, THOUGHTFUL, GENEROUS, and all of that good stuff!!!!!!!!!

Hi all! I'm uploading pics of the items I sent to Julie0803. The first is a photo of the owl pin cushion, and the second photo shows the whole package. I had lots of fun putting this together, as Julie and I have similar taste!

29  Re: Come celebrate National Craft Month! Share your pictures of "crafting in public" in Craftster Itself by lindsay614 on: March 23, 2010 06:14:59 PM
I've been introducing some local friends to the idea of craft swaps, and we had 11 participants for our first round! Perfect timing that our swap fell during National Craft Month. Smiley

The theme was Everyday Living (something to help make your partner's life more beautiful) with a 4-hour time commitment. Pretty open ended.

If anyone is interested,  here are photos of the entire swap: http://lindsaysews.blogspot.com/2010/03/anderson-craft-swap.html

That is so frustrating about the car break-in. Argh...criminals.

In good news...

I am mailing my package for Julie tomorrow morning! Smiley I have some photos I can post if she doesn't. I had a super fun time putting everything together, and I hope she loves it. Here's a sneak peak of the package while I was wrapping it all up!

Does anyone else think they'll be mailing early? I'm anxious to see what you sewing fanatics came up with!
