Hey everyone!
I am somewhat of a novice knitter and I am trying to knit the Harry Potter scarf for the movie (dork alert!)
I'm going to try a dummy test on some yarn I had lying around I am gonna cast on and knit for a few rounds and see if I can do it, without wasting my precious and gorgeous red yarn (gryffindor all the way!). I have a few pictures of my cast ons and I am wondering if you can help me out.
I'll try to give as much info so you can help me diagnose my knitting problem.

The needles are Addi Turbo and are size 16" circular cable (US size = 8 ) and I am using PLymouth Encore Worsted Weight yarn (which it calls for in my pattern)
This is my pattern.

I am using the long tail cast on method as shown at knittinghelp.com
These are my cast on photos...

My questions...
Do these cast on's look ok to you?
What is the best cast on method for circular knitting?
and
What can I do with that bothersome tail yarn? Grr.
Thanks for all of you help. Sorry this got long... :/
