Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! ok, now that thats out of my system, i am SO sorry for taking this long with everything. i have come to the realization that working 60+ hours a week and organizing swaps, not my best idea. so if you want to just go ahead and swap your address with your partner, thats totally cool with me, and if not, i actually have a day off tomorrow, so i pinky swear that i will get everyone their addresses. Thanks for putting up with my shenanigans.
erm, don't you need to PM us our swapper's addresses so we can send them?
yeah i'm working on, but i suck at life, and deleted the original messages with all of the addresses, so although i have all of them, i dont have the links to everyone so it makes the PMing process sorta hard. dont worry though, everyone will get the address of their partner in the next day or so. sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks to everyone for signing up, now, the hard part, sending them out. Just remember, send your Cd by March 28th, thats 2 weeks and 2 days, plenty of time... i hope.
And the swapping list is as follows. I tried my best with the matching, but if there is a problem, PM me so I can fix it super quick. We had an odd number of people, so I'm swapping twice, is that what I should have done?
i'm all signed up! and honestly as far as copy rights are concerned ... i'm gifting someone this cd, and most crafts are born out of a way to get around any copyright laws ... I'm an art major, and i definitly feel the need for copyrights ... but there is a limit to everything and who isn't giving credit where credit is due? i've monetarily supported the artists i'll be putting on my cd ... i don't feel bad about it at all ...
when i make a mix cd for a friend, this is what usually happens... a. my friend gets interested in a band they've never heard of, hopefully, several bands they've never heard of, thus the band has more fans... b.my friend then usually goes out and buys the cd of the band they liked on my mix cd c.my friend also goes to the concerts of the bands that they like from my mix cd...buying tickets to the show, buying tshirts, buying cds from the band, etc. d. my friend tells other friends about this band, maybe even putting a song by the band on a mix cd that they make for their friends, and the cycle starts over...
all in all, for the bands, i think mix cd's are a win/win situation, even if you are burning songs from one cd to another. how are we ever supposed to hear good music if not for friends and their mix cd's??? they sure as crud don't play good music on the radio, especially if you live in a rural area and don't have the internet, or a good college radio station.
so, VIVA LA MIX CDS/tapes!! honestly, the record companies should be sending US money!!
let me just say, if i could have some kind of heterosexual girl-crush love triangle, you two would be my top choices. hahaha.
hey, i've been thinking . . . it may be good to find out from your partner(s?) what their profanity tolerance level is. i may be paranoid, but i don't want to upset anyone.
That, is a super good idea. i completely didnt think of that even a little, but i'm sure glad you did! With that, if anyone is OFFENDED by profanity, send me a message and i'll keep that in mind when i'm choosing partners. No message, i'll just assume that your fine with it.
Thanks for the info angelwing75. i guess i didnt really think about the copyright laws before posting the swap, but personally i dont see a problem with it. i dont like copying whole CDs for people, just cause i have friends in bands and i know how much they depend on the CD sales for money, but they all love mix CDs too, so i think most bands are ok with it.
i completely agree though, if you are worried about copyright laws with this swap, just dont join. beyond that, thanks to everyone that has joined so far and everyone that will hopefully join later.
Yeah, as of now, I was thinking that we could each just make the one CD, but if you want to do more than that, just let me know. Sorry for not putting that in the original post, I thought of it this morning but didnt have time to change it.
I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for making mix CDs, but I guess anything could happen.
