11  Woodland Sampler in Needlework: Completed Projects by teachart on: April 07, 2012 08:08:07 AM
Hi everyone! I made this for jillybeans for the IYP swap. I know she received so it's safe to post, I love how it turned out and I've been waiting excitedly to share it with you all  Cheesy.

I've always wanted to make a sampler, and I think I'll be making more! I started by tea staining some white cotton. Then I drew up some little woodland creatures based on my partners likes, and got out my stitch dictionary (Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches- love it) and stitched away for hours (like 40 of them Grin)

And here's some closeups:

And for some reason out of all the things jillybeans told me about herself for inspiration I couldn't get "woodland creatures" and her fondness of steak out of my head... so I gave Mr. Squirrel a big juicy t-bone steak to give to her  Grin.

I just love how his fuzzy tail turned out!

Thanks for looking, and as always C&C welcome  Cheesy!

My turn to share  Grin! I received from UntouchableFace this morning! She made me not one but two amazing hoops inspired by one of my favorite shows "Always Sunny in Philadelphia"

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, poor Charlie can't read very well. In effort to win the heart of a girl, he wrote her an opera, here's the plot:

And a lyric from the song "Dayman" from the opera  Grin

So awesome! The stitches are silver too  Smiley. I laughed out loud when I saw these hoops! My husband loves them and I can't wait to make my brother jealous with them  Grin.

And as if those weren't enough, some BEAUTIFUL homespun yarn! (named retro raspberry!)

I've wanted homespun yarn for a while to make something special for myself  Grin This is so wonderful!

She also sent me some cool buttons but the photo was a little fuzzy, so I'll take another one later to upload... I just had to share my other goodies!

Thank you so much! I hope the hoop I made you arrives soon!

EEEEEEEEE!!! My package arrived today from Germany!!!! Happy Valentine's Day TO MEEEE!!!!!  Grin

Ok, first it was wrapped up so wonderfully-

Stuffie 1- "eyePod" alien! (Grrr sorry abut the lighting! It's overcast here today, but I think the photo hosting on Craftster makes everything even darker cause the photos looked fine on my computer...)

I've been bending this little quy and putting him on everything! He's so cute!!

Stuffie alien #2!

His function?

Candy alien  Cheesy!! Loaded with wonderful German treats....mmmmmm My toddler was so excited when he saw these he couldn't stop punching the air!

And last, but absolutely not least-

AMAZING shawl/scarf that I haven't taken off since I opened the package! I've been experimenting wrapping and wearing it in different ways... Can't wait to wear it out of the house! I'll try to get an action shot if I can find a cooperating photographer!

Thank you again BirdBones for being an amazing partner and for making me such beautiful, thoughtful things! I feel so spoiled! Hopefully your package will arrive safe and soon  Smiley.

20  Space Horses! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by teachart on: January 15, 2012 12:55:24 PM
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a couple of t-shirts I made over.

I had two old black tees that I hadn't worn in years, so I decided to make some nebula shirts out of them. I bleached them, dyed them a wine color, bleached a little more, tied a few knots in them then dyed them blue. After they dried, I painted on some stars. I took a step back to look at the shirts, but something just felt wrong. Something was missing.

Of course, I said to myself after some careful thought. Space was missing it's horses.

Luckily, I had an odd sized scrap of horse fabric that had been awaiting a purpose.

I gave one to my sister for christmas and she loved it. I rock the other one  Smiley.
Would love to hear what you guys think!
