1  Fake Swap Craftalong for Swap Junkies!!! 2014 in Craftalongs by Abbeeroad on: Today at 05:19:06 PM
I received from my partner in the faux taxidermy swap. Since the deadline was rapidly approaching and my partner knew I had a crafty husband, she sent it unmounted. I have a quick pic but I'm going to see if I can get better ones soon!

Thank you to my partner and the awesome organizer (always I'm looking at you!) Wink

Awesome, thank you! I think I'm going to use her technique for kiddo's Minecraft skeleton costume.

Brief Description: These three strands of wood, stone, and plastic (3 materials, too!) beads come together in one awesome bracelet.

House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Tie Dye Scarves
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: These tie-dyed infinity scarves require heat setting. I hit them with both an iron and a liberal amount of dryer time to keep the color from fading over time.

Haha. Yes the recipient loves it! Look! It has antlers now!

It's hard to get a good shot of the wire frame but it's awesome. Might be heading out to pick out fabric later.

I love the antlers bare, but what do you guys think, should I cover them?

Wow! That beaded bag is so detailed! Amazing work.

I have a couple progress pics to share for the faux taxidermy swap. Hubby has been working hard today...

Still needs antlers then I get to attack it with batting and upholstery canvas.

Here's a shot that shows scale and also shows off my man Wink

Loving all this Halloween stuff! Kiddo asked if we could decorate our house tonight, I better get on it!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Upcycle tie dye
Project Page Link: n/a
Brief Description: I got a splash of black dye on one of my shirts during some recent dye projects (there's always at least one going on here). Rather than declare the shirt ruined or turned into cleaning rags, I decided to breathe some new life into it by fixing it with dye. I didn't get a before shot of my unfortunate "black spot," but I did get this pre-dye pic:

And post-dye:

Definitely works better for me this way! Wink

Class/Challenge/House Pride: SoAR
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Rock Cacti
Project Page Link: Pinspiration
Brief Description: My kiddo and I found some rocks outside and painted them to look like little cacti!

I may actually keep this plant alive, ha!

Those slippers are so stinking adorable!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Peppers
Project Page Link: n/a (yet)
Brief Description: At least one dinner a week ends up being a creative endeavor. Basically, "how can I use what I've got without having to make a run to the store?" That's how these peppers were born. No recipe (I hope this counts as "no pattern or design guide"), just random rummaging and creative combining. Here's the resulting recipe (roughly):

Ingredients:
1 medium sized pepper (any color - I used green), halved and gutted
1 breast + 1/2 another breast cooked & shredded chicken
~1 T olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
2 celery stalks, chopped
1/4 onion, chopped
1/3 c + 1 T buffalo wing sauce
Cheddar cheese to top

Instructions:

Saute garlic, onion, and celery in olive oil until soft. Add shredded chicken to warm and combine flavors.

Remove from heat, add in buffalo wing sauce.

Fill gutted peppers with chicken mixture. Top with cheese. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

Makes 2 peppers.

Project Pictures:

Close up!

Yum!

10  Mrs. Weasley's Clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Abbeeroad on: September 29, 2014 01:40:14 PM
Made for Mistress Jennie in the IYP swap, who "wants to live at The Burrow." Well, no Burrow would be complete without this Weasley icon!

I transferred the image available here onto a round wooden plaque and painted over the transfer with a combination of acrylic paint and paint pens, then added the hands/mechanism.

Photos courtesy of Mistress Jennie!

And here's an in-progress pic for fun:

Thanks for looking!
