1  Mrs. Weasley's Clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Abbeeroad on: September 29, 2014 01:40:14 PM
Made for Mistress Jennie in the IYP swap, who "wants to live at The Burrow." Well, no Burrow would be complete without this Weasley icon!

I transferred the image available here onto a round wooden plaque and painted over the transfer with a combination of acrylic paint and paint pens, then added the hands/mechanism.

Photos courtesy of Mistress Jennie!

And here's an in-progress pic for fun:

Very cool, chrmisha! Is the house made of wood? Maybe it would fit for flying. Or do you "see" candy in your future? Maybe it's for divination. This looks like upcycling to me, maybe you can use it for charms. Hope one of these works for you!

OK, project download from me:

3  Art Nouveau Plaque Hooks in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Abbeeroad on: September 28, 2014 06:05:34 AM
I made these for Mistress Jennie in the IYP swap. She had mentioned that she was looking to decorate her bathroom with a art nouveau theme and both of these images were pinned on her Pinterest. I decided I was going to try to make her some kind of wall art in the art nouveau style, then I realized I could make them more functional by turning them into towel hooks/holders.

I started by stitching the images on my machine. My technique for this is basically to stitch over a printed image of the design and then tear away the paper. I embellished the stitching with watercolor paint and some painted beads. The whole thing was stretched over a layer of polyfill and stitched over a wooden plaque. (a la Ludi's embroidery finishing tutorial). I enlisted my husband to forge the hooks for me and then he attached them to the back of the plaque. I love how they came out and I'm pretty sure Jennie loves them, too!

Pics!

Here's the 2x2 sushi I made Mistress Jennie in the IYP swap.

Totally inspired by sheepBlue's stump work sushi and Ludi's technique for finishing and turning it into a magnet.

Home with a sick kid today so I got in some stitching:

Two simpler squares. A snowflake for my favorite season and a deathly hallows symbol for HP of course!

I finally made a city page. The background was made from playing with leftover dye. The quote it an excerpt from the Walt Whitman poem Mannahatta.

Next up is a facing nature page.

I received from Mistress Jennie and it's so wonderful I can't express it so I'm just going to show you all.

First, I got home to a huge box bursting at the seams. Everything was nicely wrapped with no detail neglected.

First I opened two gorgeous bracelets: one a garnet love bracelet (garnet is my birthstone) and the other is a moonstone patronus bracelet (Jennie helped me discover my patronus while chatting for this swap so I feel that this is extra special):

Next (this is so freaking cool), a beaded mobile!!:

I don't know if this picture is any better than yours Jennie but this is pretty much the coolest.

I got an "Angels have the Phonebox" bookmark. So classic Jennie I love it:

Linen Napkins!!! These things are 100% me. I cannot touch them enough. I've needed/wanted a set forever and these are seriously perfect:

Detail close up:

A set of Alysa Burke inspired doodle cups for pencils/brushes/whatever. I think I'm just going to use them for everything!

Actually, Jennie, I liked your plant idea...I'm thinking succulents?

THE LARGE: check out this awesomeness:

It's a rag rug made from cotton yarn and t-shirt yarn!!! I love Jennie's words: think if it as a hand made sweater that you can totally walk all over! So, so awesome.

And as if that wasn't enough: EXTRAS!

Crochet dish cloths that look like mandalas (love):

Mojito jelly and Kalsch Beer Mustard:

These babies are better than gold to me. Check out the mustard goodness:

Cute strawberry socks that I "needed" (ha!) and chocolate (this chocolate will not last the night!):

And last but SO not least, home-made soaps! Old bay scrubbing soap with oatmeal for my husband post-blacksmith activities and rosewood & calendula goats mild for me! The scents are perfect, Jennie no worries!

I can't contain my gratitude. Jennie has been so generous to me during nearly my entire time on Craftster. I invited her to swap to return the generosity, but now I feel I owe her more. You are a beautiful generous spirit my friend, THANK YOU!

And now to add to my pile for Jennie which is suddenly looking quite small...
