11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / WoW Meeting Stone Birdhouse on: November 03, 2011 11:00:33 AM
I made this as a housewarming present for a few of my friends from college that I play WoW with Smiley

There's a "meeting stone" for each group play area within the game, and the one for this area called Dire Maul is notoriously hard to find. I spent an hour with my friends one night searching for the damn thing, so I decided to make them this little birdhouse. Hopefully the birds can find it more easily than we did.

In the game, the stone is located inside a stone gazebo. I got the wooden gazebo at Michael's and painted it to look like stone with moss/vines all over it, and then made the stone from poly clay and glued it inside. The sign is a piece of bark.

I also made them a cross-stitch for the kitchen that says "May your blades never dull!" I framed it and glued on some of those silver plastic forks and knives that look like real silverware. Forgot to take a picture before I sent though Sad

12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Fat Mushroom Purse on: October 15, 2011 03:26:32 PM

Made this fat mushroom purse for the Random swap! He's fat because his trunk had to be big enough to hold something and I made the cap before I made the bottom. I added the little leaf to hide an awkward stitching situation, but I think it made it look like an apple!

Inside is lined with a pretty black and white fabric, and grommets and rings hold the chain handle on. the cap is attached with a piece of elastic in front and back, and the front one has a snap on it so the cap can just flip open. I think my partner's daughter likes it Smiley

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Clock made from old curlers! on: October 15, 2011 03:15:56 PM

I guess this is kind of a reconstructed thing. At my favorite thrift store at home, I found this giant bag of old plastic curlers like they use at beauty salons for perms. This was like three years ago! They reminded me of when I used to go with my grandma when she would get her hair done Smiley So I brought them with me across three states when I moved, and they've just been sitting around waiting to get used in something weird. So when I joined the Random swap and learned my partner liked weird things, it was a perfect match!

The little piece of wood was taken out of a wooden box I used for something else. The pattern was already there, but I painted over it with acrylics that matched the curler colors.

I thought the pattern of the curlers made it end up looking kind of Southwestern. And I still have a billion more of them!!! Thanks for looking.
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Dia De los Muertos Candlestick on: October 15, 2011 03:08:49 PM
This candlestick was for the awesome crafty gurll for her birthday! Her bathroom is Mexican kitsch, and I'd been wanting to do something like this with this candleholder so it was a great opportunity. The candle is made from babybel cheese wax which I collect in a pail because I eat so many of those lil cheeses. The colors are paint markers and the skulls are from polymer clay.

So the candle shape was a funny thing that just happened. I was planning to make it tall and skinny like a toilet paper tube, but hot candle wax does not like cardboard. So I rummaged through my box of plastic junk to find this plastic case for a weird deck of cards that was shaped like a long, skinny oval, and one half was shaped like a tombstone! Perfect! I had to get the candle out using my Dremel once it cooled, but it was worth it Smiley It's pina colada scented too.

Thanks for looking! This was a fun project!
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Horde Symbol Junk Art (Pic heavy) on: October 15, 2011 02:42:50 PM

Made this Junk Art wall piece for my partner in the Random swap. It has the Horde symbol in the middle since we both used to play/occasionally still play WoW and we're both For the Horde!

I was definitely inspired by this post by sheepBlue! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=390365.0 I thought about painting everything a solid color, but in the end I liked how it looked without painting. Got to use a lot of fun little pieces that I've had stowed away with nothing to do with them until now.

And just for funsies, some little pebble face guy magnets I made for the same swap.

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Youthful Green Necklace on: October 15, 2011 02:21:18 PM
My partner in the Random swap described these colors of green as "youthful" so I thought that'd be a good name for the post! It's a two strand necklace made from some silver-plated double-link chain and green glass beads.

Thanks for lookin'!
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Funky celestial windchimes on: October 01, 2011 02:23:45 PM
This was a September birthday gift for mandykaye!

The copper curlicue is plumber's tape, and it had the perfect holes for attaching some charms. The chimes and beads are from some deconstructed pieces I had. It makes pretty sounds!

Thank you for looking.
19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Old-Tyme Radio Wallet on: October 01, 2011 02:07:52 PM
This project was made for spidermom and inspired by her wists!

Sewed this little felt music note to the left side so it wouldn't be blank.

Credit-card pockets!

It's all felt. I hand-sewed the whole thing, mostly so I could sit in front of the TV while I was doing it :p LAZY! I like the effect it had in the end though.
