This is great! Love the use of the sprockets. As far as attaching him to the rock...maybe you could use some kind of support that would add to the item and serve to hold up the figure as well? Something like what you see in sculpture...like in Michelangelo's David, there is a random tree stump that serves as a support, but blends in as part of the sculpture. Maybe a metal tube or something in the spirit of the sprockets...but also easy to attach to the stone?
