1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / vintage inspired back-button cardigan or cardigan re-con. help a sister out. on: February 01, 2010 03:18:36 PM
I'd really like to make one of these ( http://www.nitrolicious.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/i-heart-ronson-011.jpg) fabulous back-button cardigans from decades passed. I saw one a while back by Ronson's line (which is the one on the right in the picture) for JC Penney and I could kick myself for not buying it on the clearance rack. I think I can recon this piece from a short sleeve cardigan I already have, but how to shape it so i doesn't look like I'm just wearing it backwards?

Better, albeit smaller, photo of the back. I can't find a photo of the front to base my recon on.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / 7 piece wall decor (pictures of biblical proportions) on: January 29, 2010 12:22:12 PM
Okay, so I love these awesome mini collage motif art pieces that I've been seeing everywhere. However, they are mind-blowingly expensive, so I thought, "uh uhh, girl, you know you can make this thang by yourself, girlfrann." I gathered my old canvasses and some leftover paint, mixed up some corresponding colors, and this is what I came up with.

Mine is 7 pieces and it laid out in a messy asymmetrical way. In case you're wondering the big C K in the middle is mine and my boyfriend's initials, who so helpfully painted alongside me.

The colors are off in the photos. The yellow is a golden-orange tone and my walls are 1970s avocado green.

All of the pictures together on my wall.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My name is chantel, and I'm a lurker. (empire waist bubble dress) on: January 22, 2010 03:45:25 PM
Okay, So. This is my first post as a member but i've been lurking since the dawn of time. I've been making clothes since I was a little kid , nonwearable mind you, and i wanted to try my hand at a girly little empire waist bubble dress. Something that I would venture to wear outside with out the fear of being stoned to death, or fall apart.

I made the blouse part from some (god knows what kind) thrift store fabric that smells nauseating when ironed. Any guesses? Its very gauzy and delicate to work with. I'm curious to know whether or not it should be on or around my skin.

The skirt part is technically a recon since i fashioned it into a bubble skirt from an old skirt that used to be really long.

here she is...

And apologies for the janky picture quality. My camera fell in the toilet the night i wore this dress out on a drunken gallivant and its life was subsequently ended.

RIP Nikon, we barely knew ye.
