Patraw the absence of detail throughout most of the piece, save for the figure, was actually my intended effect. I want my painting to instill more of an emotional response, and have the viewer get lost in their own imagination. I didn't want to tell the story of the figure, per se, but have the viewer create their own. With that being said, the quote by Paulo Coelho and the name of the painting (Calypso bulbosa) elude to the fact that both flowers and people are beautiful and fragile, and neither should be possessed
