Your kids are so cute! Props on letting your daughter be Katy Perry since that's what she wanted, and also props for doing it without letting her look skanky!!! I hate when I see little girls dressed in an age-appropriate outfits. And Sonic is pretty cool, too-- I didn't know that character was still around! Haha, I must be getting old.........??

Thanks, Kittymom! They're little squares so there's a lot more of them in a bag. I just figured that a picture with just a few squares would be easier to look at for color choices Smiley

I'm keeping up! I'm keeping up!

I think my project is going to be a lot smaller than originally anticipated, but that' ok because it's still a pretty good size. Don't want to count the # of squares yet, though... but I've done a ton of squares this month!

Anyway, I wanted a bit of advice for what color to use to join all of these squares together. I'm thinking white, gray, or black... opinions?

I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna commit!

...Hope I can stay focused, haha.

I fell off-board, haha. I have days when I'll sit and space out and make 10 squares... and then days when I want to rip my hair out when coming home from school (oh, being a teacher in a foreign system) and am too frustrated to do delicate things with my hands. But my plan is to finish my blanket next month!!!

Happy (early) Halloween!

I wish I understood crochet patterns better! This is sooooo cute. I'm totally making one once I work up the ability to...

If I've made about 16 squares in in the past 3 days to compensate for my lack of square-making, am I allowed to stalk here? Please?  Roll Eyes

I feel like I have the weirdest color combination. I don't know if living in India is just affecting my thoughts on colors or if it was just the limited selection of yarns at the store, but these squares (that will become a blanket) are not my usual choices in colors at all. I'm going to need some help figuring out what color to make the edge of the blanket...

Off to crochet more! Good luck, all you dedicated hookers... that sounded bad...
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: First project- Granny Square Afghan! on: September 10, 2010 12:38:10 PM
So pretty! The colors look great together... I'm living in India temporarily and got bored without any crafts, so I picked up some randomly colored balls of yarn and am working on my first granny square blanket now!

I was actually searching craftster for some sweet granny square blankets in hopes that someone with an awesome one would pity me and explain how to crochet a border... I'm having that problem where I can't learn things from books/written online so when someone writes, "Oh, the border's just S7K19" or whatever the shorthand is, I have no freakin' clue what that means... so not to be a pain, but do you (or any other crocheters) have a resource to share for learning to make a blanket border?

...not that I'm in any rush. I'm making my blanket out of tiny squares, so I think I have another 400 or so to go before I need to worry about this...

How awesome! It's cool that the fabric shows light through, so from far away at a quick glance, it really looks like a plastic bag! Smiley
