24  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ear-flap hat on: May 02, 2012 04:27:28 PM
During the winter my step-dad was frequently outside in the cold. Yes, he did have plenty of jackets and fluffy socks with him but his head and ears were unprotected Shocked. And so for Christmas, I made him this hat from a great pattern:http://dontmakemeover.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/ron-weasley-animal-crackers-hat/
There was a problem to making this though: I had no idea how big my step-dad's head was, so I didn't know how large to make it.
The solution was simple though: I just casually walked in the kitchen with a tape measure, measured his head, and walked out. Simple Wink

25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Scrap-Fabric Bag on: May 02, 2012 04:08:40 PM
This was made for my sister for Christmas. (Yes it's been a while) Every time I went to Hancock Fabrics, I couldn't help but get those square bundles of fabric that had amazing patterns, telling myself I'd find projects for them. Those pieces of fabric had been sitting in the crafting corner of my room, waiting, until one day I got them all and sewed this.
Not really caring about the alignment, I rushed it all, going back and forth from the sewing machine to the iron. But I actually really like he crookedness of it all. Even though you can't see it, on the inside, there is a dark maroon fabric. The handle is made up of long strands of yarn braided together. She was really happy when she opened this and was even kind enough to model it for the family Cheesy
