1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / quilt for my brother's wedding on: October 27, 2005 02:59:39 PM
My brother got married this fall (yay!)  I made this quilt as a wedding present.  I was inspired by Denyse Schmidt's amazing design called Run and Fall http://www.dsquilts.com/runandfall.html.  I wanted the design to evoke coming together (hence the converging lines), growing (I used green and yellows to suggest a vine, or a bunch of flowers), and home (the design suggests an urban skyline - they live in NYC).  I hand-stitched the applique and then machine quilted the whole thing in zig-zagging lines - it took about two months from start to finish (although the design process took a little longer).

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / kaffe fassett-inspired snowball quilt on: September 24, 2005 02:56:55 PM
Here's a quilt I made last winter for my sister.   It was inspired by one of Kaffe Fassett's designs and uses his fabrics (which are so great)!  It was my first handquilting project - phew!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / i heart hats! on: January 17, 2005 10:42:55 AM

I based this one on the basic knitted hat formula from Mielke's Farm: www.mielkesfarm.com/bsic_hat.htm.

This one is an adaptation of the devil hat at www.kittyville.com/knit/adult_devil_hat.html.  I get stopped on the street all the time when I wear this hat!

This is a child's version of a pattern for a felted, striped cloche: http://www.yarnia.com/piupstfewoha4.html.  I've made it for adults, too, and it's a fast, fun pattern.
