1  Re: Geeky Christmas Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by birdak on: December 21, 2013 01:22:47 PM
Received from Ryn yesterday.

Holy hell this bad boy is amazing. She took my love of board games and combined it with my love of Game of Thrones to make... wait for it...

Ticket to Ride: Westeros Edition

I know - you're jealous right? Because you should be.

I can't wait to try it out.

Hayleylujah sent me an AMAZEBALLS package. I can't wait to try everything. No really - you'll notice one of those is an empty wrapper.

Also - check out the perfect cowl! It's my favourite colour (did we even discuss that??) and it features a red X for the Alabama flag. But it's also a super cool feature for the scarf. I've been wearing this since I took it out of the box.

Thank you so much! I LOVE this package. If I weren't me right now, I'd be super jealous.

3  Re: International Snack Swap 6 (Signup Jan 14th- Feb 10th Sendout Mar 12th) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by birdak on: February 16, 2013 11:42:33 AM
We have Cadbury stuff, but not nearly as much as is available elsewhere. Really, only the cream eggs year-round and then the little chocolate eggs at Easter (I wait ALL YEAR for those!). The British store has all kinds of them. My favorite so far is the Flake, I love the texture.

I've never heard of Ketchup or All Dressed chips before, or Jos Louis, or Oh Henry, though Crispy Crunch sounds familiar. . . I'm not a snack expert though, so some of that may be available in the U.S. for all I know.

That's what this swap is all about, I guess! My luck, though, I'll get addicted to something and never be able to get it again  Sad

P.S. I found this when I looked up All Dresses chips haha:

BAHAHAHA. Oh man though - All Dressed are the best flavour! Poor non-Canadians.

4  Our Home and Native Land in Needlework: Completed Projects by birdak on: August 31, 2012 07:59:24 AM
I made this for mezcraft in the wordy round hoopla. Most of the stitching was done during the Olympics so I thought it was a great time to stitch something to show my Canadian pride!

I'm not the most skilled stitcher in the world, but I'm pretty pleased with how this one turned out anyway.

For you non-Canucks out there, "Our home and native land" is a line from the Canadian national anthem, O' Canada.

I had a lot of fun working on the design for this, and I learned a lot about some new stitches.

I received this badboy in the mail this morning. I saw the postman drop it off as I pulled out of the drive-way on the way to work. Painfully - I was running late so I had to leave it there to wait until I got home.

One of my favourite movies of all time from one of my favourite duo's (trio if you count Edgar Wright - which I do) of all time.

Shaun of the Dead!

Look at that mad skill in the portraiture! Wow.

It's so so so perfectly me, and I love it more than words can express.

Funk Yeah!

I've finally got pics!
Sloth003 sent me this great lightbulb - and the kicker: IT GLOWS IN THE DARK.

way cool.

I tried to get a pic of it glowing in the dark, but my camera couldn't pick up the image. But let me assure you, it really works and it's really awesome.

Thanks Sloth003!

Holy Woah - I dont check things for a few days - and SO MUCH AWESOME STUFF HAS BEEN POSTED.

Everything looks completely amazing.

also Cherry_Blossom55 told me to post this so I will.

Here's the edible I made for her ( and me - in person swaps = excellent sharing time ;P )

I have to say - I was incredibly pleased with how they turned out.
BUTTERBEER CUPCAKES with a Ginger Brown Sugar Icing.

Sooo delicious. We are definitely making more for the premier.

Alright! So Cherry_Blossom55 and I swapped the other day but I just haven't had the time to post the pictures yet because it was Canada Day weekend!

So she made me the most awesome package - sorry it's pic heavy.

First is this AH-MAY-ZING Hand stitched Hufflepuff patch. I swear - I compared it to my store bought Hogwarts one and this one is better. No word of a lie. - The woman is crazy.

Next up is this necklace that I definitely wore to work today. It's a DH themed necklace! It has beads for the four houses - a Hallows charm, and a bottle filled with Snape's memories.

This part was a holy-hippogriff-wow moment for me. I made a deck of HP cards for ~amc in the last Deathly Hallows swap, and I loved them and was too lazy to make my own set (because I KNOW how time consuming they are to make).
Cherry_Blossom55 has totally outshone me and made me the best HP deck of cards ever!

She hand drew the pictures on the face cards so here are some close ups - These are seriously great.

And of course - the joker

But wait! That's not all!
BEHOLD! The WWW skiving snack box to end all skiving snack boxes.

Stocked with Cockroach Clusters, Chocolate Frogs, Peppermint Toads from Honeydukes
And Puking Pastilles, Fainting Fancies, Ton Tongue Toffee, and even candied Peruvian Darkness Powder on a stick! (Clever)

And some homemade Butterbeer fudge for good measure, of course.

We had a great swap - and now we're sitting and watching Harry Potter 2 while her Fianc knits her a Ravenclaw scarf - times are good. Smiley

So VanGo87 and I met up and swapped in person today. Super fun!

I was supposed to be receiving a special delivery of redvines and squirt, but alas - it hasn't arrived. So I brought a bag of Double Stuffs, and some Twizzlers and Fresca as my best snacking solution. So we swapped and snacked and had a totally awesome time. Smiley

So now to the awesome pictures of all the completely krumbelievable things VanGo87 made for me. (Pictures of the meet up will be posted by VanGo87 later)

(I apologize for the pic heavy nature of this, and the bad quality of said pics. She made tons of things - and I only had my cell camera, such is life.)

SO, Lets start off with a picture that both shows off how excited I was about everything, AND my boss new Ron Headband!

Next is my supermegaadorableaw esomecute Mini GiantSquid! in Hufflepuff colours of course.

Quidditch Fingerless mitts in my house colours Smiley

Floo Powder Power necklace - for those emergency moments when I need to access the floo network in a pinch.

A WAND!! Apple wood - 11 inches - Billywig Stinger and Unicorn Hair core - quite sturdy - just like I answered in my questionnaire!

My very own Platform 9 3/4's sign.

A Hufflepuff tie, and Some of the cutest hair clips. One set is yellow buttons (totes wearing one right now), then there are a few clips with Potter snippets, and then some with Potter covers in bottle caps - so cute!! So pleased. Also - I dont have a good picture of a bottle cap pin that has already taken up permanent residence on my totebag.

Oh man. the best part of the whole swap. A big thick comfy pair of Hufflepuff socks!!! I dropped some heavy sock hints, and I got my wish! I love these so damn much, I have no words.

This is an amazing little note pad with HAND STAMPED words on every page (this booklet isn't tiny either!) Most of them say "FIND!" which I find to be very suiting. But there are other AVPM phrases thrown in as well. So great.

And ( oh yes there's more! ) A set of magnets with some of my favourite quotes on them!

Ok. These are amazing. They're straight from my wists because I LOVE paintchips. They're just awesome. And VanGo87 cleverly tied them into AVPM by calling them the Scarf of Sexual Preference magnet set! Get it? RAINBOWS! Hooray. Oh Scarfy.

(I seriously love those so much)

So Yeah I think that's it!

I know right? You're all jealous. It's okay - I don't blame you.
