1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: DRESS MADE FROM A BRA on: January 06, 2011 10:09:35 AM
Thank you for all the lovely opinions!

@zowiewoahie @MamaPorter
I didn't put any fabric covering the bra because I wanted it to be visible. I saw a dress like this in a shop and I loved the idea, but I think that a bra covered by fabric would be a good idea of another dress. I'll try it and I'll post it when it's finished!
@.tiaraly.
I didn't used a zipper or anything. I just let a few centimetres of fabric in the back and just closed the bra bottoms. I can upload a picture of it if you want to. Smiley

Well I made this dress from a bra, as you can see.
It was really easy to do, so if anyone wants a tutorial please send me a pm.
Hope you like it, and show me your opinions!

Beautiful bag made from a pillowcase TUTORIAL

Hi everybody! this is my first post in craftsester.org and i hope its ok.
Im not from USA so excuseme if my english is not ok at all, im argentinian so i speak spanish.
Well, let's began now!!!
Today, i'm here to share with you a bad i made yesyerday from a pillowcase.
My cousin works in a hotel so when the owners of the hotel decide to change the decoration she gives me things to recycle.

The things you need for this bag are:

FOR THE BAG

1) a pillowcase, or a piece of material, but the idea es to recycle!
2) sewing machine, you can do it handsewing if you want to too.
3) cotton
4) iron
5) a piece of elastic

FOR THE FLOWERS

1) a piece of material that has a lot of polyeseter, so when you burn in the edges sears.
2) buttons
3) cotton
4) needle

(i wrote this  with a translater from internet so if is wrong im sorry!!)

Step 1:
Cutting.
Cut the pillowcase so you get a rectangle. Dont worry if is not perfectly straight because when you sew you can fix it.
Cut two strips for the handles, you will have to bend it so take care thar they are not to narrow.

Step 2:
Ironing.
On the top you will have to put the elastic, so fold the fabric a bit bigger than the elastic's size and iron so it stays marked.
Iron the handles too, folded on the middle.

Step 3:
Sewing.
Sew the wrong sides of the big piece. Then sew, the wrong sides too, of the handles (on the big side and in one of the little sides). Turn right the handles.
Sew the hem where you're going to put the elastic.
Sew the corners of the bag the way you see in the picture.

Put the elastic inside the hem with a safety pin. Remember that the elastic has to be shorter than the circumference of the bag! Sew the ends of the elastic.
Sew the handles to the bag and make a know in the ends.

Step 4:
Decorating.

Cut circles of the material and burn the edges. Sew the pieces together with a buttom on the middle.
Then sew the flowers to the bag.
They should look like this:

Step 5:
Enjoying your new bag:
Show it to your friends, they won't believe that you made it by your own!

This is mine

Please showme yours and tell me if you found it easy!
If you need something, i'll be glad to help you.

Paula.
