When you're in a sort of hurry, and need a lacy choker for a special occasion, well, this one was easy to crochet up in under an hour.
The original recipe called for a kind of glittery gold thread, but all I had in the house was vintage crochet thread in a marigold color. I think it turned out kind of nice. Held together in the rear with a vintage pearly button.
Kittymoose received my package, and she asked me to post pix for her. I rarely fail to disappoint, so I shall do just that:
First off, a cupcake mini-purse, that she can use to hold jewelry, or hair ties, or whatever she likes. Crocheted with yarn I received from someone on Freecycle.
Then, I took a plain cloth bag I had sitting around the house - brand new, never used, just waiting for something - and hand-sewed a butterfly and dragonfly on it with scrap fabric and rick-rack I had lying around. Kittymoose could use this as a bag for groceries, or hauling books to and from the library...
Finally, I crafted some decorative fridge magnets from an old baseball magnet schedule and Raggedy Ann & Andy graphics from a Little Golden Book!
I hope you can find a use for everything, Megan! I had a blast making this stuff for you!
Here's what I received from maiziemama. She sure hit the nail right on the head with this one!
Two modern knitting mags plus four vintage knitting mags and books - two from the Sixties, two from the Seventies...hoo boy, the kids and I are having a good laugh over the fashions in this one! My son thought the two dour-looking ladies on the Mohair cover were drag queens!
Tons of yarn - and really really nice yarn...Knit Picks, Esprit, Garnstudio, et. al....plus she sent along a ton of vintage crochet hooks (in sizes I didn't have already! Yay!) some which have the price stamped into them, Boye hooks for 29c!!! I love the colors, and an old Susan Bates swatch gauge (yay again), plus some stitch holders. I am having so much fun even though I have the flu! Thanks, maiziemama!
EDIT: Not only did I have Donny Osmond on my avatar (LOL), but I just noticed this is my 666th post on Craftster! At first I thought that was part of the joke, but hmmm...I guess not! Yikes! <<Someone cue up a little Ozzy! >>
Well, let me show you what danni.yelly sent me from England!
She really spoiled me, because I asked for specific things, and she didn't have to go all out for me, but she did! I asked for lavender soap - she sent a whole big bottle (it smells awesome). I asked for Yorkshire tea, my favorite, and here's a box with 80 teabags! I also told her I loved the phone boxes over there, and she found a phone box - which is also a pencil sharpener! I love it! She also sent chocolate and loads of magazines, which the hub and I are enjoying reading by the beach.
Thank you for everything, Danielle! You were very very generous and got everything spot on!!! Yay for England!
