1  Re: BBC Show swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by lucy van pelt on: December 04, 2011 02:08:15 PM
Got my package from pioneer9 - I've been remiss in posting pix, but here they are!

My BBC shows were Doctor Who, Torchwood, Life on Mars and anything Sherlock Holmes (I tend to go old-school with Sherlock!).

a FABULOUS Tardis bag. Will be put into service as my new knitting bag immediately!

Look at the inside lining of the bag! It's like space!  Cheesy

SQUEE! A Captain Jack Harkness doll and Life on Mars ('Camberwick Green' episode) framed artwork with Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt. So. Freakin'. Cute!

Finally, some cute bead bracelets - "Don't Blink" (Doctor Who), "The Game is Afoot" (Sherlock Holmes),  and "Mad? In a coma? Or back in time?" (Life on Mars).

Wore them to a party last night; had compliments!

Thank you Valerie! I love it all!  Grin

Over on Ravelry in the KFO group, we're crocheting stuffed animals and dolls for orphaned, abused, and abandoned kids in the Chicago area.

Here are a few that I made: more might be on the way!

Would be great to have more folks join in and contribute!~  Wink

I got a box of awesomeness from AsphaltQueen. This sweetheart went way ABOVE and BEYOND her swapping requirements!

To wit:

Group shot: I swear to you, this isn't even all of it! Even better, she sent the tinies in a vintage-y Chinese tea box!

I LOVE the buttons!  A taco button? Airplane button? Potato chips button? Are you serious? SWOON

My favorites of any whimsy swap are the animals. Check out these cuties! The cocktail monkey! The owl button!

She also went thrifting (good girl!) and found this awesome, if geographically innacurate, vintage Florida souvenir plate!

And: ta da! My favorite bird on a pack of playing cards!

She also threw in a popcorn bag, some fabric, and a diner-style notepad! ***faints***

Thank you so much AsphaltQueen! (And I know you all are jealous!!)  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Here's what freestyle sent me! Tiny little awesomeness!

I needed stitch markers, and my theme was cats, so she did a little stalking and made...cat stitch markers in my favorite colors!

One is missing here b/c I put it to use already!

Love, love, love them! Thanks Magan!  Kiss

Here is what I got from MommyMac!

Lovely! I can definitely use these. I'm in the middle of a granny square afghan right now, so these are perfect!

Thank you!

I received this beautiful locket from SunflowerSmiles. She very cleverly combined two of the themes on my list, rockabilly and Victorian! By jove, she did it!

I know the pic doesn't show the whole thing but it is adjustable and kind of long, with a cute toggle clasp in the back. And the locket opens up....I still have to decide what to put in there!

I love this to bits! Thanks Meredith!  Kiss

And here 'tis:

SevsOnlyGirl really outdid herself, Victorian-wise! Grin

She sent an authentic mini tea set - perfect for one, perfect for Sundays. It even had tea and a diffuser in it! Great! I hate the diffuser I have already, I'm tossing it and using this one instead!

A beautiful set of earrings, a funky little pewter-look charm bracelet, and this amazing flower pendant

that works out to be adjustable longer or shorter. I wore it to work the other day and got lots of compliments!  Cheesy The earrings are really very pretty, and this pic doesn't do them justice!

Thank you so much Dawn - I'm so sorry you had crafting angst while at the post office! Everything worked out fine, though!
THANKS!

My turn! Decaf sent a wonderful jar. She sent an apothecary-style jar, wrapped in a vintage hankie. Swoon.....how did she know I collect vintage hankies?

Tons of paper clips (great for work), little animals (I LOVE the walrus), barettes, felted magnets...

Pins, beads, buttons, a tiny Chinese domino set, and a pig keychain - his snout lights up and he oinks when you squeeze him! He is my favorite and is on my keychain! Yes, that does say Dumb Blondes Tape Measure - it's blank inside! Lots of laughs at work all around.

Decaf also included some old-timey Florida coasters (I heart this stuff so much it hurts! Kitsch!), a candle holder (not shown) and some cool glass candies.

One of my favorites were these Carmen Miranda fruit earrings. I wanted to cry when I saw them, because back in the 80s I had a necklace and earring set like this that I bought at an antique show, and I eventually lost them in a move.  Cry When I saw these the memories came flooding back.

Thanks so much Decaf. I love it all!

I also included a postcard that is really, really old that I found at an antique shop. Suitable for framing, Dawn!

I'm glad you are enjoying them! I especially enjoyed crocheting the choker/collar. I might make one for myself!
