1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help Reconstructing this shirt? on: May 30, 2012 01:54:02 PM
Hmm, yeah, me, too. Unfortunately nobody has really given me any insight, so when I have time to alter it, I may end up ruining it *sighs*
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help Reconstructing this shirt? on: May 05, 2012 02:22:14 PM
So I've been looking for a specific shirt for my Watson costume (Sherlock, BBC) and I found the perfect one! Except that it isn't just a simple long-sleeved shirt. It's a woman's shirt and only looks like what I need in the back.

Here is the actual shirt:

And here is the shirt I found at Goodwill:

The colors and stripes are perfect! It's a 2XL and I'm a small, so I'll need to do some tailoring anyways, but I was really interested in hearing any ideas people might have to try and fix this shirt up as much as possible? If there's nothing I can do about it and I just need to wear it backwards for our photoshoot, I can live with that, although it'd be cool to be able to wear it around. If only there had been two of these shirts *sigh*
(P.S. already bought a plain darker blue shirt to add the extra bits to the sleeve and bottom of the shirt)

Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Removing Brand Name? on: May 01, 2012 07:43:15 PM
So I have a problem. I've been searching everywhere for a very specific shirt and the best thing I've found so far is this:
http://anf.scene7.com/is/image/anf/hol_55673_00_model1?$holProductModelZoom$
Unfortunately, the costume I need it for can't have "Hollister California" plastered on the front. Any ideas??
If all else fails,  may still just buy it and photoshop the words out after our photoshoot, but I'd love to be able to wear this shirt out and about, too (without the brand name).

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Tailoring a Rib Knit Sweater on: March 24, 2012 10:47:07 PM
Hey everyone! Any tips on tailoring a wide rib knit sweater? I bought a medium size and I wear a small, so I'll have to take it in on the sides and I plan on cutting the sleeves off as well (it's for a costume).

Hopefully you can see that. Let me know if the link breaks or anything.

I've tailored shirts before, but never something like this. I once (stupidly) tried taking a nasty old sweater and making a simple beanie out of it just by sewing in a semi-oval and it failed miserably. Turned out bumpy and gross. But then again, I'll mostly be sewing vertically on this sweater.

But yes, any tips or things to keep in mind would be much appreciated!!

Thank you! The moogle hat was probably the hardest, so I feel much pride when I see it on my friend's head.
