1  Galaxy sneakers! in Shoes: Completed Projects by tunami56 on: May 03, 2012 02:14:59 PM

I bought a pair of white sneakers from Target with the intention of dying them green, but there were a bunch of paints next to the dye in Michael's so I decided to paint them galaxy print! I didn't expect them to turn out well at all because it was my first try at painting galaxy print and I didn't look at a picture while I was painting. But I ended up really happy with how they look and everyone I showed them to liked them Smiley

2  Suitcase bed for cats in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by tunami56 on: June 12, 2011 06:28:21 PM

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a cat named Obi as a companion for our cat Kitten. I had high hopes for them getting along so I decided to make them a bigger bed so they could sleep together. They were very wary of each other to begin with but after a few days they became the best of friends.

I saw a suitcase pet bed somewhere on the internet so I decided to make it for the cats. I found an old, hard-backed suitcase at an antique store for $12. My boyfriend helped me break off the top half of the suitcase with hand-weights and then I ripped out the old lining. I didn't take any pictures of that but picture smelly, light purple satin lining. Here's the suitcase with the lining ripped out.

Apparently the suitcase once belonged to A. Davis from Chicago, Il.

I then lined the suitcase with a thick, dark brown fabric I found at the bargain rack at Joann's.

I made a patchwork cushion with some scrap fabric from a quilt I made.

Success!

3  Handmade condo for Kitten the kitten in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by tunami56 on: November 11, 2010 04:56:35 PM
My dad and I made a kitty condo for my kitten (named Kitten). I found her this summer as a tiny, starving, flea ridden kitten and nursed her back to health so now I'm pretty infatuated with her and spoil her with things like handmade kitty condos. My dad and I made the structure in only a matter of hours and it cost about $50, while those you see at Petco cost upwards of $100 or $150. As soon as we showed her the condo she took to it immediately and somehow knew it belonged to her. She's on it ALL the time now (when she isn't cuddled up next to me).

Hissing at the dog

But deep down they love each other, I promise

4  Make-up bag and change purse (long time lurker, first post!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by tunami56 on: November 11, 2010 03:45:18 PM
So, I've been lurking on Craftster for I don't know how long now and I finally decided to post some of the things I've made. Here are two of the first things I made with my new sewing machine. First, my make-up bag. I was tired of having my chap stick, make-up and hand sanitizer floating around in my purse, so this bag was just what I needed.

I got the tutorial from here:  http://modernquiltlove.wordpress.com/2009/07/14/perfect-box-pouch-tutorial/

It's perfect for holding a few things of make-up and some Ricola cough drops.

And here's the coin purse. Pretty simple, but I like it.
