1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: AVATAR: the last airbender swap gallery on: May 13, 2010 02:13:31 PM
That was my first real attempt of chain maille (involving a lot of swearing). The links are REALLY tiny and so are the beads. At one point I messed up the pattern and had to undo half my work (oh god) but I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I have some close up pics on my computer if you guys want to see them. I wish I had a size comparison though!

I'm excited to see mels stuff! I saw a trailer on the website for avatar and i think its the same. But god, I think they made the firelord indian too. Its one thing to eff up zuko...but firelord is supposed to have long black hair and garh! And what are they going to call Admiral Zhou? Is he going to be Indian too, but with a chinese name! GRR.

I sent mine out about a little over a week ago (i'm pretty sure days are iffy with me lately). Things have been crazy for me because of AP testing (think about it: 3 tests, each 4 hours long. 12 hours of testing). I can't wait for ambermoony to post pics!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and words. I truly appreciate that. Nothing better than fellow avatar fans eh?

My cat died this morning.... and as a result my crafts are coming out wrong. Going to send asap but probably late.
Oh god I read this too fast and thought you meant your craft killed your cat!! I'm so sorry about your cat. My dad died so I'm behind on my craft too (but i'm trying to get things done!)

I'm really excited! I'm going to the library with some friends of mine to work on our crafts! (Boy we are going to get some looks a lot of teens crafting). I'm almost done and I'm pretty sure I can mail tomorrow!

Btw has anyone ever seen an Avatar commercial and you start thinking "OMG its Avatar the Last Airbender!" but then you realize its not? I swear I've been doing that so many times!!

I used tulip and polymark paints.  At Michaels they have at least 50 different color paints and you can mix them just like regular paint to get the color you want and I know my wal-mart has a small collection of colors.  I also used tulip soft which is in a bottle and those came in quite a few colors too. To me, if you're painting with the fabric paints, they both work well and hold up but personal opinion on using them straight out of the bottle, I like the polymark better because the bottles are smaller and easier for me to work with.

I loved seeing another MCS fan too!! I wondered if anyone would recognize it!
Interesting, I have never used paint pens since I heard about inconsistency but I think I have to give this another look. Yeah walmart was were I sadly got my paints. Very Limited. Thanks so much for telling me the brands, I can't wait to get out and buy some and try experimenting.

Lol and I'm very glad I could be here to recognize it Cheesy Usually I just lurk but I just couldn't resist!

I love MCS too!! I got to see Justin when he did the dino trail in st. louis Smiley
Anyway...Thank you for the comments. They were both done with fabric paint. I thought about acrylic but I was afraid of cracking and didn't want to mess with sealant.

Stick to fabric paint. It looks nicer and dealing with acetone in the sealant and the cracking is annoying. What brand of fabric paint did you use? I've only found really ugly neon colored ones and I'd like more usable ones.

And its cool to see another MCS fan!
