51  Bacon Wrapped Apples in Recipes and Cooking Tips by princessacademy on: January 08, 2010 07:23:52 AM
I'm sure this isn't original or anything...
I was inspired by some bacon wrapped prunes, bacon wrapped water chesnuts (which I despise!) and my fave sandwich that a local restaurant stopped making when it got new owners (boo..hiss!).

Granny Smith Apples sliced, then wrapped in fried (or baked, I did half and half) bacon = SUPER yummy

52  A fave round here... [CHicken Rotel Casserole] in Recipes and Cooking Tips by princessacademy on: January 07, 2010 05:21:33 PM
This is what we call Chicken Rotel Casserole. I got the recipe from my best friend's mother in law (confused?). I was told recently that this is also called White Trash Casserole?

Anyway.

Ingredients:
Boneless SKinless chicken
spaghetti noodles
can (s) of Rotel (tomatoes with chilies)
can of cream of whatever soup (I use chicken, she uses mushroom, both are tasty)
and cheese (she uses Velveeta, I use shredded)

First Boil your noodles and your chicken

When they are cooked, cut up the chicken into little pieces (bite size), drain the noodles.

Then you just throw everything in a casserole pan and bake it at 350 jsut long enough to heat throughout and melt the cheese.

Before it goes in the oven...

After..

"Plated"...lol

Couple more things from my stash I whipped up.

A dishrag from some cotton I was handed down. Its a lovely peachy melon color that won't photograph well!
I made two, but one is already in use and I don't think anyone wants to see a dirty dishrag.

Neither shows the true color... Angry

And...just a simple little doo dad for my daughter's hair. First crochet pattern I've been able to follow though so I'm quite pleased! Made her this one and a of white, super soft bamboo yarn one, but of course can't find that one now that I want to take pics...have a feeling Greta, our puppy has run off with it. You just tie them around pony or pig tails.
:-)

ok..wow I'm  behind...lol
hi!
the ren dress is gorgeous! I'm in awe of people who can sew! Like my mom...I don't have the patience for sewing, or the vision, or something..I'm not sure, I'm trying to learn but its not going well.

I learned how to make a granny square today!
Can I just make a giant granny square as a baby blanket or would that look weird? I don't know...maybe I'll make one that way and one the traditonal way of putting a bunch of smaller ones together...
1.Scarf using new stitch I've learned (broom stick lace) well, this yarn wasn't great for this stitch...and I didn't have enough of it for a full scarf, but think I'll make it a necwarmer by adding some buttons. Ah well craft and learn eh?
2. Baby booties
3. baby blanket for my friend Mel's little boy, due April
4. A baby blanket for my friend Kelly's little boy due March
5. A baby blanket for my friend Jamie's little boy due Feb. (eek!)
6. A baby blanket for my friend Rebecca's little girl due march
7. my son's scrapbook, you know since he's one and all now
8. Pillows for my dd's room
9. Finish the Mother Goose cross stitch blanket I started for a friend's baby shower in Aug. whoops!
10.Throw pillows for couch
11. giant cuddle afghan for couch (out of stash yarns)
12. Cloth napkins! (we haven't used paper towel in about a year...could use some of these!)
13. try to make t shirt yarn
14. Make rug out of said T shirt yarn!
15. Attempt to make a skirt (more than one if things go well) for myself for church.
16.refinish/redecorate some of the picture frames in the basement into something I (or anyone) would actually use
17. make a winter hat for my sister's boyfriend, he walks 5 miles each way to work in OH and doesn't have a hat!
18. Recon winter coat? It has some holes and is scrubby...but can't afford a new one at present!
19. Make a t-shirt/onesie for my son that says "King of the Wild Things" with a Max crown, or..?
20. A onesie/shirt that says "Brosnan who?" on front and "Cpt. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce" on the back, as the latter was the inspiration when naming him, but EVERYONE says "007 fans?" or "Like
Pierce Brosnan?"
21.Finish my Autumn wine shawl/wrap/throw
22. Leg warmers A bad action shot because, I changed out of the tights and dress and boots I wore them with today before I remembered to take a pic. and two, its hard to photograph your own leg. They are a bit plain so I plan to add some buttons, but I had a new dress I wanted to wear to MOPS today and since we're getting about 5 inches of snow currently needed the extra coverage!

Some VERY quick and VERY easy toys for our puppy Greta. She had some harder rubbery chew toys, but kept snatching socks and baby blankets and other soft, stretchy things, so i quickly cut and braided these out of stash fabric to give to her. I plan to make her a few more soon.

VERY easy baby booties. I've just started to learn to crochet things that aren't just straight lines. Followed a nice youtube tutorial, but it wasn't his pattern. They're called Bev's Baby Cloud Booties or something?!???

Two hats out of stash wooly sweater. Trying to make a hat for my sister's boyfriend. He walks to work 5 miles each way, and its chilly in ohio! But one came out too big (he does have a big head so I added a bit) the other may work? I don't know they are wavery and wonky, but I sort of like them both on...so may keep them both if he doens't like either. :-) Not that he'd tell me, the little sweetie.

That's it for now!
