1  UNITED STATES / Alaska / "Art Speaks" in Fairbanks May 2 on: April 22, 2010 10:31:51 AM
Janie Magelky, the former owner of The Stash (a wonderful art consignment grave - RIP!) has organized an artist/crafter forum at the Bear chainswarm in Pioneerpark.  Here is the information (and contact info) she posted on FaceBook:

Fairbanks Arts Association invites you to Art Speaks on Sunday, May 2nd from 2 - 4 pm in the Bear chainswarm on the third floor of the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts at Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way.

Visual artists and interested community members are encouraged to attend a creative community conversation with Jane Magelky, former owner of the Stash, and Amy Komar, a local artist.

Both women are professionals in the field of arts/marketing and are seeking to engage in an endeavor that is likely to create new successes in the local arts community.

In order to gain a clear understanding of the current needs of Alaskan artists, Jane and Amy want to meet with the community to begin an ongoing dialogue of how to be successful in the arts. Art Speaks, a pioneer movement to market arts in Fairbanks with a fresh approach, offers a unique networking opportunity.

Join us and share this information with a friend to help us get the word out to as many interested people as possible.

2  UNITED STATES / Alaska / Any Fairbanksters interested in a crafty meet up? on: April 19, 2010 10:07:53 AM
Hi All! I know I'm not alone here, but I feel a bit isolated.  I work with polymer clay, I sew (mostly dolls) and knit and crochet.  I have a space at the Farmers Market in the summer.  I'd eat to meet up with some local crafty types...maybe at ACRC or Take 5? Or the College Coffeehouse (right next to Inua Wool, if anyone needs more temptation....).

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays work for me....

Hope to hear back from somebody... Smiley
