Gorgeous gingerbread house! The detailing really helps it come alive. The lights give it a lovely warm glow. I love this Smiley

Great idea adding the weathervane. I love it. The details really bring it to life. I think the fence is my favorite part!
6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 70 ENTRIES / Gingerbread Carousel on: January 15, 2012 07:11:17 PM
I know I missed the deadline for the contest, but I thought I'd share our 2011 Gingerbread anyway! This year my son and I did the majority of the work. Not only did we created a gingerbread carousel but we also made some "ninjabreadmen"! I hope you all enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed building it!

Almost everything is edible. It is built on a turntable with 3 pcs of cardboard stacked up to make a nice solid base. The cone shaped roof was made by draping the dough over a foil-covered posterboard form and then baked. The roof is packed with wads of foil to help support the weight. The center column is also gingerbread, but we covered it with foil to mimic the mirrors you usually see on carousels. The floor is covered with rolled airheads, the horses are made with sugarwork. Thanks for looking!

I like the "Alice" piece. You should check out the article in the Dec issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors.  Wink

I, too, am a cyclical artist/craftster. I'm in my knitting phase at the moment  Wink

These are very beautiful. I really love that you allow the work to move outside the prescribed borders a bit. It speaks to me. I read an article in the Dec. issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors. I've put it on my list of things to try this year. I even have the sketchbook all ready to go!

I hope you keep at it and post some more of these to share!

Now that is pretty cool! It would make lovely accent pillow covers  Smiley
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Mrrrphmrrf Cowl on: January 04, 2010 06:12:41 PM
Beautiful! I love the color. It looks similar to an eternity scarf, just not as wide so there's no need to fold. I like this idea, but it looks like it might ride up when you reach. Do you find you have to adjust it very often?  I would love to knit one, but I can't be bothered with fussiness  Wink  How is working out for you?
