21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Got the painters in? No one need never know!! on: August 22, 2010 10:05:43 AM
I wanted to make some little bags to keep tampons, etc in, for 'that time', so I came up with these!

The one on the left is a roll (like a painter's roll - geddit?!), with pockets for tampons and pads, and the one on the right is a little bag, for non-applicator ones, with a press-stud fastening for the ribbon, to fasten to my new hand-made bag's loop, so i can always find them!

The little bag is made from an old skirt, lined with sari material, and a hook and eye fastening, with a decorative button - it looks wonky in the picture, but it's not - I promise! There is a press-stud fastening the ribbon (it was meant to be an eyelet,  but I picked up the wrong snaps - d'oh!!)

The tampon roll is made from an old skirt and pair of jeans, and is stitched with bright pink zigzag stitching.

Sorry for the dodgy pics - knew I should have asked my friend to take them!

C & C's welcome as always - thanks for looking!!  Grin
22  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Mollycuddles! on: August 22, 2010 09:45:05 AM
So, I wanted to make my mum at least a part hand-made pressie for her birthday tomorrow, so I came up with this!

Side view:

I crocheted a heart shaped flannel / washcloth, and a hand made mini bath puff (it's mini cos I got bored  Roll Eyes lol!!)

I looked at patterns for both, and then decided just to make it up as I went along! ha ha!

I put them both together in a pack with some shredded pink paper, along with a Body shop soap and a face pack, and what else - chocolate!! all wrapped up in cellophane, and tied with curled ribbon

Thankies to pinkmonkey1982 for the help with the wrapping - I just couldn't do it!!  Cry
I will be adding some home-made labels to just finish the whole thing off.

It's one of my aims for next year to try soapmaking, and making bathbombs, and then they can be totally hand-made! I've found tons of stuff I want to try on the B&B boards!

C & C's welcome, thanks for looking!!!
23  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Hoodie (sort of!) on: August 07, 2010 08:59:22 AM
My friend at work is due to leave on Thursday to have a baby, I wanted to make the new little one a pressie.

But, because she would NOT say what she was having until the week before last, it needed to be something quick (I only get weekends to craft, and I really wanted to make it boy/girly). So I'd remembered seeing a link on here to someones blog with a tute for a hooded baby towel, and I thought BINGO! (link here: http://www.prudentbaby.com/2009/10/diy-hooded-baby-towel.html), but as my friend has a filthy sense of humour, I wanted to make it not too gooey, and so I found this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=339711.0.

And here we have it - two ideas successfully pilfered in one morning: thankies people!

An 'action shot' - popcorn the bear is substantially larger than a new born (well - i hope so, for her sakes, lol!)

laid out in full:

close up of the writing (it started off straight...?)

Overall, I'm fairly chuffed with it all, except the writing - I wanted child like, not childlike and wonky!!

Comments and criticisms are welcome, as always!

Thanx for looking! Grin
24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fairy dust... on: August 01, 2010 01:14:57 PM
I had a pressie to make for a friend, and I wanted to do something off my 50 Projects for 2010 list (not doing so well on that lol!), so I came up with Fairy!

She was based on a pattern in a Nikki Trench Amigurumi book, but I made her a bit more 'glam'!

Any comments or criticisms would be great - this is my first attempt at a 'real doll' - her eyes are little black beads sewn on, and I tried to sew on eyelashes, but I don't think it worked out so well.

Side Profile showing her spajangly wings:

25  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Fun and Games!! on: July 11, 2010 01:18:42 PM
Well, I was inspired by this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=350056.0, so I thought I'd have a go, and make one myself.
I found a knackered old Cluedo on a charity stall for 50p, so I went for it, and six rolls of electrical tape later, here you go! It's totally wonky, and not flush, but it was my first go, so I'm happy enough for now - plus its one ticked off the 50 projects for 2010 Craftalong! Yay!!

Finished item.Plus an old PG tips box I covered with an old OS map.

In progress...

Another completed angle:

I hope you like - I know it's a bit pants, but it's my first go!!

Thanx

26  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / My first post - I made a boob...!!! on: June 26, 2010 05:49:25 PM
So, I've lurked on Craftster for aaaaaages, and I signed up, and this is my first project I've posted, and I'm hoping you lovely people are going to be kind.

I needed a new pincushion (fed up of the hideous strawberry thing!!), and me being me decided it needed to be a little more interesting (right down to the nip ring!)

Sorry about the dodgy photos - taken during a thunderstorn.

I hope you like - C & C's welcome!
