This is my first research proposal; I really hope its OK and Ive done it right?  Huh

Research Project Name:De-manning our new home; part one of many
Team: Wordy  Grin
Brief description:
I moved into my bfs a while back, and I am beginning the process of de-manning the house a wee bit it needs a bit of TLC, and Im starting with the bathroom. Ill be doing this on my own, as he is a) pants at DIY and b) away with work for most of the time.
Week 1: Researching the colour scheme; we have a green bathroom suite that I need to work around, so I need to plan how to tone it down a little. Ive already spent three nights on craftster researching!
Buying materials and starting the prep work: stripping, sanding, and so on (and removing the worrying stain by the toilet lets not dwell on that)

Week 2: Finish prep work, paint tiles and walls, fix ceiling and paint. Re-grout and reseal (not in that order)

Week 3: This is where my team wordy comes in: Do detail painting, Im going to paint bathroom related quotes and words from other languages around the bathroom.
Paint and pretty up the furniture and the bath panel again with wordiness.
Paint the window in the door with a bathing quote.

I have some before pics, so you can see what I'm up against, but wasn't sure where to put them (if anywhere?)

Wow Lovelymiss - why did I never think of crafting to practice my mindfulness homework?! So much more exciting than 'observe my hand' blahblahblah.

ah- the dreaded 'should' - it's banned at our group. It's so hard not 'shoulding' isn't it?

Ok - personal goal - to use the nerd games to do something nice for myself, and practice my mindfulness (and erm, possibly some new crafts  Roll Eyes )

I'm super excited, off to a quilting and stitching show tomorrow - wooooohooooo!!! Will keep a look out for all things nerd!

Thanks Ludi, sometimes it's good to know it's not just you!

One of the benefits of officially losing my marbles was discovering I could paint (a bit!), so I'm going to try and build some of that into my crafting - maybe try some new crafts?

OK, I've read up on the other games, and I'm in!  Grin

I used to be on Craftster quite a bit, but last year I got quite poorly, and it's completely knocked my crafting confidence, so this might be just the spur I need to get myself back into it, and re-find my crafting mojo.

Plus, since moving in with my bf, I now have a fantastical craft room that I really want to use more!

It was a tough choice,  but I think I'll go with Team Wordy, hopefully it will help inspire me a bit more than I am at the moment!

Yay, getting quite excited, and have some ideas bombing around my tiny mind...

it does help, just frustrating that I can't do as much as I want, but I'll get there, slow and steady right?

thank you  Grin

the polka dots totally chose me, I have to say, and my five year old neice picked out the flowery one, (as well as putting in an order for a new school dress - uniform means nothing to her, lol!)

I eyeball things, cos then I can kinda fudge them as I go along, patterns and me always end in disaster. Always. There's never a happy ending...

So, I've not been about in a while, life appears to have thrown an entire lifetime's worth of crap (for about 10 people!) at me, and things have been tough, but I'm slowly on the mend. I've been out of hospital (hopefully for good) for about six weeks now, and am getting ready to start back at work.

My concentration is still shot to pieces, but I am slowly starting to get some of my crafting mojo back. Things are taking me about 10 times longer than usual, but I'm getting there, and I just wanted to share a few things I've knocked up on my beloved Esmeralda. Nothing special, so I've just lumped them all together in one post; hope that's OK Mods?

Polka dot dress (polka dot have become my new obsession - I even bought a blusher in a colour I didn't want the other day, because erm...the tube matched my new dress  Roll Eyes )

No real pattern, I just kinda made it up as I went along; like I say, rubbish concentration

Flowery dress with pink darts/bust. I saw a pic of something similar on the internet, and just kinda eyeballed this as I went along:

Skirt using the same polka dot material, with white piping detail. You can't see on the pic, but I managed to find fab matching buttons, and it also has a jewel heart detail button:

Top, using an old purple top I had, and a skull and crossbones scarf that was on clearance in primani, so it was basically free (yes, I am that cheap  Grin), but the purples matched identically, and I love skull & crossbones! I accidentally cut the bottom off both the front and the back (see, no concentration!), so i took the opportunity to put a dart in the back, to give it a bit better shaping. I basically just cut the arms off and re-hemmed around, and cut a section off the neck to make it a gathered bust thingy:

Like I say, nothing special, but it feels good to be getting back into it again, albeit slowly.

Thanks for looking

xx
