Mistress Jenny: So - is this like a butter for toast?

Whatever it is - it sounds delish. Might try this for my sister or for our Christmas baskets.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / kids ribbon shirts from vintage material on: September 03, 2016 06:20:00 PM
recently, my SIL's 95 year old mother moved into a retirement home. My sister and I helped with packing up the house that she had lived in for almost 50 years. The woman was quite the pack rat! At least she knew what she wanted to keep for her new place. You would not believe the amount of stuff that was given away. Lucky for me she said to help myself to whatever I wanted. I limited myself to a couple coffee tables and some of her craft/sewing stuff.
And some old bedsheets - - bought from the Hudson's Bay Company (I think. Or maybe Eatons?) in 1967 - Canada's Centennial year, that feature Indigenous people. Apparently this pattern was given the ok from one of the Indigenous groups at the time.

I got 3 flat sheets, 2 pillowcases and 1 torn fitted sheet. (I used that to make a blanket for my hand drum).

Last week my sister wanted to make ribbon shirts for our grand niece and nephews. Since we didn't have money to buy more material we dove into the stash. And came up empty. Then, on my shelf in the sewing room, I saw the sheets. I volunteered a couple for the cause. We got 3.5 shirts out of 2 sheets: size 4, 5, and 2 adult XS. Ribbon came from the stash.

this shirt is one of the adult XS - the front is from the bed sheet, the back is some chambray we found in the scrap basket. Because our nephew is autistic we didn't want the ribbons to hang loose as they could overstimulate him - so everything is sewn flat. The cuffs and hem are double fold bias tape.
