1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / new hatchlings! on: November 06, 2008 05:41:09 PM
so here's my original post i did awhile back:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=234911.0

and i've actually finished a few more since then:

i tried moving away from the bird legs to something a bit more....odd.....

but eventually wound up going back to the bird legs. i like them the best. plus i'm more productive when i'm not trying a new leg technique EVERY time. so this is my current one:

hope you like them!
these little guys just make me so happy! Smiley
2  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / yard/garage sales..... on: May 19, 2008 06:27:52 PM
so i've been here for 8 years and the one thing i miss about living in a small town is being able to just jump in the car on the weekend and go driving around checking out yard sales.
so i was wondering, how do you ny'ers find yard sales? any good places that tend to have alot of yard sales? i know yard sales can be kinda hard to come by when...we don't...have......yards....that much lol
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / my hatchling **updated with new pics on pg 1!** on: March 20, 2008 11:15:44 AM
so i got this idea one night when i couldn't sleep and i was finally able to get it together and make it.
i wanted to make something where it looks like a bird is hatching. but all you see is the legs coming out of the shell, not the bird itself. the idea is that you see the shell, and imagine what the bird might look like based on the design on the shell. so here's my first in hopefully a series:

i'm also giving each one it's own scientific latin name. that's what's in the label on the block. i found a scientific name generator so i have it generate a name, then i take some descriptive words about the particular hatchling and translate them to latin and change up the generated name with that.
i'm having loads of fun with this!!
hope you like!  Grin

UPDATE:
here's the latest one finished

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / please please help! on: February 27, 2008 07:24:02 PM
ok so this might be an odd question but i'll ask anyway....

first off, i don't knit. just can't do it. but i've been DYING for some knit legwarmers. like these:

http://www.metapostmodernknitting.com/MetaPostModernLegwarmers/tabid/68/Default.aspx

so my question is...would some sweet wonderful crafty oh so gifted generous (insert any other compliment you wish) crafter be willing to knit me a pair? of course i will pay!! if you have an etsy shop you could do it that way and post them for me to purchase. whatever...i just really really really am dying for a pair of these!
also, if anyone has another pattern that might be even better, i would love to see it! like i said, i'm desperately wanting a pair! and i don't have the knitting skillz!

please help! i will be ever so grateful! thank you!

UPDATE: found a generous crafter willing to do it. thanks everyone!!  Grin
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / screen printing supplies in nyc? on: February 09, 2008 09:21:28 AM
my husband just took the screen printing class at etsy labs recently. of course loved it. and this week went out and bought most of the supplies he needed. but for some reason we can't find anyone who sells a large piece of glass. we were hoping somewhere like home depot. so where do you nyc screen printers go for your supplies? we live in forest hills. so if there is anyone near home that sells it that would be even better! thanks for the help.

9  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / bento supplies? on: July 06, 2007 12:24:15 PM
so i bought my first bento lunch box online and was wondering if anyone could point me to some good stores to shop at here in the city for supplies (dividers, sauce containers, picks etc....more bento boxes) or even some fun foods to put in the bento too! i'm completely new to the world of bento but really excited to get started! i've been to cookingcute and they have great links but i'm looking for somewhere i can physically go to. thanks!
