321  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Jim Henson swap Gallery on: December 08, 2011 03:43:35 AM
Whoo hooo! I received my swap package last night from IHeartsTheArts! It arrived last night. I'm loving my goodies! Thank you thank you thank you!

Too funny! I mentioned that I really liked Ernie, although he was a part of "Sesame Street" and I always preferred "The Muppet Show,"  Gretchen sent this activity book and crayons. (Love that round orange head!) I should break this out at work sometime and see what kind of reaction I get. Smiley

Googley eyes! What an awesome idea! These bad boys are going to bet a lot of use! I never even thought about buying them before, and every great Muppet has to have good eyes (a la Cookie Monster). And two Pez dispensers: Yoda and R2-D2 (There were multiple puppets in the Star Wars Trilogy, but Yoda was the only one Jim Henson was involved with).

Now, they guard my desk at work when I'm not around. The candy was quite nice too. Smiley

A great appliqued Kermit reusable bag!!! I love this!!!!

And the best for last: a Shrinky Dink bracelet of Beaker, Professor Bunson Honeydew, Gonzo, Janice, Miss Piggy, Kermit and Animal! The colors are so great and bright! Gretchen got a lot of detail in this bracelet. I wore it to work today to show it off.

I sent out IHeartstheArts' package today. I hope she enjoys her's as much as I enjoyed mine.
322  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Simple Statement Wreath on: December 04, 2011 09:20:41 PM
I got the form at Michael's. I think it's some kind MDF-type board and it's actually flat instead of rounded like your wreath. I purposely bought a cheap form (I think it was $2.99 or so) because I've never crocheted around anything and if it didn't work out, then I didn't want to be out much for this project. Smiley Plus, the flat form made it easier to attach my stuff to. And I just used a glue gun for all of that stuff.

I finally got around to finishing my version of this wreath. I didn't get it done in time for fall this year, but at least I'll have it for next fall.

I think the inside of the wreath is about 8" across. I used Red Heart Super Saver orange and Marrakesh (#0947). The pine cones were picked up while I was walking my dog one night. The feathers were decorative picks from Michael's (where the wreath form came from), and the little bow and green leaves were leftover from my stash. In the picture (from my cell phone because my camera battery was charging), it looks like the feathers are black. They aren't. They are actually deep purple.

Did anyone see Miss Piggy on the Tonight Show on Friday night? I'm not a Jay Leno fan but I walked into my husband's computer room and he was watching Jay interview Mickey Rourke and Piggy was sitting next to him! Smiley I love the fact that Piggy got the first interview slot. Anyway, the whole ep is on Hulu for anyone that wants to see it. Miss Piggy was hysterical. Smiley

And my husband surprised me with a new sewing machine tonight (I was expecting it for Christmas), and I already managed to get a couple of smalls knocked out that I was planning on muddling through by hand. Smiley

328  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Colorful Childhood Patchwork Quilt on: November 04, 2011 08:30:03 PM
Oh hell no, THAT IS A QUILT. I love the fact that you added to it, after all these years.

I've only made one quilt myself, squares and rectangles cut from a variety of fabrics, lined with a cotton sheet, batting in between, and edged with some kind of black silky satiny edging stuff. It's big enough to lay over the top of a queen sized bed and I actually keep it on the futon in my crafting room. It's totally not a great quilt and I'll never make another one, but I do love it.

OMG  Cheesy That is hysterical! She looks like she's waving at the dwarves in the first photo. LOVE it! And the costume. Smiley

Whoo hooo! I got most of my shopping done this week so I'm planning on getting crafty this weekend. Smiley I spent a couple of days brainstorming after reading the questionnaire from my partner, IHeartsTheArts.

Looking forward to this!
