The armpit closing for the sweater is the very last step. You will see that when you read ahead. You attach them with a kitchener stitch.

 Roll Eyes

I read ahead before I posted.  Apparently not well enough.

Thank you!  I feel like I can proceed happily now.  I'd been worried all day.

I just added the first sleeve to the body in order to free up the needles for the second sleeve.  Was I really supposed to leave stiches on stitch holders?  When do I close the armpit?  It just doesn't seem right.

Nice job!  That is so much fun!

so, being the coolest lil sister i am
Does anyone else think this may have more to do with "being the hot, buff friend of the older brother?"  Wink, wink. Wink Because that is totally the reason I would have done this for some guy when I was younger!

I'll knit him a hat.  He's a cutie!

I like the hat, too.
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: ballet-wrap top from Rebecca on: March 20, 2005 07:10:06 PM
I bought the yarn and printed the pattern a couple years ago, when I first got interested in knitting.  I think that strickmoden link is the key!  (I've asked so many knitters for help and the stitch pattern has stumped them all.)  thanks jujube!  I'mabout to get in bed with scrap yarn and figure that much out.

My only question now is the second paragraph of the instructions, where they say "at the same time, bind off at opening edge on every 2nd row 2 st twice"

At the same time as binding off the 9 (13) stitches at center for the armhole?
And what'st he "opening edge"?

Oh, the schematic confuses me, too.  Are the pieces shown folded in half lengthwise?  Huh

I promised myself I'd finish this and then try the little wrap cardi in Rebecca 29.  What are the chances I'll want to tackle another Rebecca mohair project after this one? Lips sealed
