2  I copied this jacket... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by flauncychauncy on: April 21, 2005 10:35:57 PM
I was given this and a few yards of black fabric to replicate it:

and I made this out of it. I added the flower so it wouldn't be so plain, but she didn't like my flower Sad It took so long to make, too!

I want her to pay me for making this, but I don't know how much to charge! I've never been given fabric and told to make something for someone I dont' even know. Any advice?

my friend suggested this idea for a bag, therefore, I am naming it after her.

The Tiffany

The backside, under the skirt.

The front, under the skirt.

The bag from the bottom, skirt somewhat flipped up.

I think she'll enjoy this.

9  Tutorial: dead cat bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by flauncychauncy on: April 11, 2005 05:37:54 PM
I whipped this up today, inspired by a friend's comment.

I don't hate cats at all, so no hate mail, please.  It's just funny, and it makes people look at you(I've tested it already, smiling at my funny bag the whole time).

TUTORIAL--My first for bags. If you need any help, just ask and i'll get back to you asap.

You will need:
Black felt for outside(or whatever color and style you prefer)
red fleece for inside (again, you can choose what you want to use)
Red yarn or string, and a hand sewing needle
a black zipper
some stuffing, like poly-fil

Start with a pattern that looks like this:

but don't forget the back of the head, like I did.

Then, you cut it out, along with the red for the inside of the belly.

Grab your belly fabrics, and  place a piece of the red fabric on top of the black, outsides touching, and mark your zipper.

Here's what it will look like when you're done with the zipper. If you don't know how to do this, look for a tutorial on here, there's plenty.

Now you'll want to sew the corners(the notches you cut out on the belly fabric) of all the belly fabrics.

Here are some more examples...

For each leg(and the tail) Sew two pieces together, leaving a space at the bottom so you can turn them right-side out.  I don't have a picture for this, but I think you can figure it out. Once you've sewn the legs and the tail, pin them onto the body. Because you left the zipper open, you can let them hang through the zipper so they don't get in the way. I pinned the legs at the corners, and the tail by the bottom of the zipper. This is what it will look like when you've got it all pinned and sewn.

Then you'll just shove the legs inside the body, so you can sew the inside belly together.

Leave a space so you can turn it right-side out again. (yes, my fabric has words, but it won't be noticeable!

Once you've turned the body right-side out, kind of like this...

...bring the belly out so you can close it up...like this...

Then it should look like this picture, only the inside of the belly will be all the way closed!

Now....
Sew the middle part of the head to the outside parts...(i'm confusing, i know. look at the picture.)

Then sew the other part, where the mouth would be...

And it will look like this when you turn it around.

Then you sew the eyes...but I know some of you don't like my idea, so use your own eyes.

Then sew the back of the head on and stuff it. (This part shouldn't be confusing...if it is, just ask for help.)

Sew the neck closed, then sew it onto the body. (If you have a better way of doing this, go ahead, this is my method Smiley)

Once that is done, all you have to do is attach the legs (sew them together) so you have something to hold on to...unless you want to carry it by it's tail. JUST KIDDING!

And now you have your dead(or not) kitty purse!

If anything isn't clear, or if I skipped something, let me know!!
