1  Sari-inspired scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by Messily on: June 03, 2005 12:12:10 PM
I found this lovely light aqua ribbon yarn with silver threads running through it, which reminded me of sari fabric.  I made a skinny drop-stitch scarf:

Neither photo really does it justice, but the color is much more accurate in the second one.

I bought two skeins and the scarf only took up one, so now I need to find some sort of bag/accessory pattern for the second one.  Any suggestions?

3  Re: Feels Like Summer to Me CD Swap in The Swap Gallery by Messily on: June 03, 2005 12:01:30 PM
I got my CD from taped_on_wings yesterday afternoon, and have already listened to most of it while driving around (gotta love LA traffic).  It ROCKS!  She described it as a "Driving (fast) with your windows rolled down - getting drunk with your friends mix".  Here's the tracklist:

1. Action Action - Photograph
2. Snow Patrol - Spitting Games
3. Green Day - Castaway
4. Warrant - Cherry Pie
5. AFI - Man in a Suitcase (Police cover)
6. Echolaylia - Second Story Apology
7. Atom & His Package - Punk Rock Academy
8. Beck - Sexx Laws
9. Hunter Revenge - Mysterious
10. Blur - Girls & Boys
11. Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road
12. The Network - Supermodel Robots
13. John Mellencamp - Jack & Diane
14. Me First & the Gimme Gimmes - Walking on Sunshine (Katrina & the Waves cover)
15. Keane - Bend & Break
16. Outkast - B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)
17. Pennywise - I Get Around (Beach Boys cover)
18. Rufus Wainwright - California
19. The Dandy Warhols - We Used to Be Friends
20. Tegan & Sarah - City Girl
21. Tiger Army - Cupid's Victim
22. Tom Petty - Free Falling
23. Frank Zappa - Valley Girl

And a picture of the fabulous packaging:

(The plastic flamingo was floating in the package, so I'm not sure where he was supposed to go, but he's very cute Smiley)

Thanks so much, taped_on_wings!!

4  Gashlycrumb Tinies pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Messily on: May 14, 2005 04:32:15 PM
I made this pillow for the Edward Gorey swap.  At first I'd tried to embroider the picture, but there was too much detail for the cloth to handle, and it ripped.  So I got some more cloth, blew up the picture in Photoshop, and half traced/half hand-copied the design using Marvy Uchida fabric markers.

The back of the pillow is black velvet, and it's stuffed with a pillow form.  I'm still afraid of my sewing machine, so the whole thing is handsewn.   Roll Eyes  It was really fun to make!  It's the first pillow I've ever made, and the first sewing I've done in about ten years, but now I'm ready to try more. Smiley

5  Preppy Stegosaurus in Needlework: Completed Projects by Messily on: April 25, 2005 11:23:16 AM
My take on the pink-and-green trend:

I hand-drew the pattern after looking at a few different stegosaurus pictures on the internet, but I also improvised quite a bit as I went.  I like embroidering useful things (I still don't know what one is supposed to do with a tea towel), but that canvas is a bitch to sew through.  My fingers got really sore.

At long last, here is a picture of the awesome stuff that Tinapickles sent me!

Sorry for the delay... we ended up buying a new digital camera and it takes quite a bit to convince my boyfriend to part with it for even a minute.  Smiley  Thanks again, Tinapickles!

I got a fantastic package from Hambucket today!

She made a fantastic bag, a zippered pouch, and a super-cute necklace and earrings set!  My roommate's cat Frankie tried to steal the jewelry:

Thank you so much, Hambucket!  Your stuff is so amazing!  Now I just hope you're not too disappointed with what I sent you...
