1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: A collection of time, secrets and broken hearts on: November 04, 2010 11:48:46 AM
Wow. I am really digging the red-haired lady. Do you have an etsy or artist website?
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Natalie Dee - Anxiety Girl on: November 04, 2010 07:08:03 AM
Had no idea there was a costume challenge. It's definitely not as cool as a lot of the others, but I fugured, what the hell! Wish I'd known there was a contest on here - would've taken process and more detailed pics. Smiley

I went as Anxiety Girl, from the Natalie Dee comic:

I already had the green sneakers, and bought the leggings, shirt, and boxers. (Was hard to find any green shorts to this time of year, unless they were huge basketball shorts.)

I sewed the cape and used fusible interfacing (with some emergency fabric glue) to make the applique on the front of the shirt and back of the cape because I couldn't get my stupid bobbin rethreaded. I also used interfacing for the mask. I also should've used a knit for the applique on the shirt as well as the mask - both were really stiff, but I didn't get the materials until a few days before halloween and didn't make the costume until the day of, so all and all, I'm satisfied.

Several people said "Cool, a ninja turtle." WTF? Clearly I am ANXIETY GIRL, and plus, none of the TMNTs wore green masks.

My friend who took the picture told me too look anxious. Wish I'd done the pose instead, though.

3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / My Natalie Dee Costume on: November 03, 2010 07:16:19 PM
Went as Anxiety Girl, a Natalie Dee comic. Had the green shoes already. Bought blue leggings, shirt, and boxers retail. Made the cape, apliques, and mask.

The photographer told me to look anxious, so I just kind of spazzed out. Wish I'd thought to do the pose!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween Costume In-Progress: Marcy Darcy on: October 30, 2009 03:23:50 PM
T-shirt take 2 - the first run-through, the ink I drew on the shirt with bled through the paint. This time I used stencils, then free-handed the caveman and fangs on paper, drew over them with a transfer pencil, and ironed. Of course the pencil was purple and the shirt read, so it was hard to see - I had to kind of wing it. Hope it's dry for tomorrow!

5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Halloween Costume In-Progress: Marcy Darcy on: October 26, 2009 04:38:03 PM
This year, I'm gonna be Marcy Darcy from married w/ children. I have some bad tapered stonewash jeans I got, red/gold 80s jewelry, a blue and black cardigan w/ shoulder pads and gold buttons, a gold braided belt, and some ridiculous 80s booties (kind of western style) to wear. Making the shirt. Should have done stencil/paintbrush, but I waited around too long, so tulip will have to do. I'll try to update pictures as I finish the shirt, and, of course, full costume. Smiley

6  COOKING / Dessert / Re: 90s Party Cupcakes - Pics but no recipe, sorry! (Adult content) on: August 21, 2009 10:17:52 AM
Ok, so it goes:
Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Penis, Smashing Pumpkins
Spin Doctors, Hole, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Boob, Boob, Boob, Boob

Then:
Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Nirvana
Nirvana, Veruca Salt, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails
Stone Temple Pilots, Spin Doctors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Spin Doctors

I think Spin Doctors is the only band no one ever listened to...they were just a goofy 90s band and it was an easy logo that didn't use too much of the crap icing so we made it so it would taste better so we could eat those and let everyone else have the "cool" bands with more of the yuck icing on them. Smiley
7  COOKING / Dessert / 90s Party Cupcakes - Pics but no recipe, sorry! (Adult content) on: August 20, 2009 09:13:31 AM
My BFF got a cupcake kit for her b-day, and so we used a recipe from there (i believe it was "lemon butterfly cupcake w/ icing") to make cupcakes for our friends' 90's-themed b-day party. The result was delicious. Unfortunately, instead of using the icing recipe to make the decorating (colored) icing, we used store-bought to do piping with and it SUUUUUUCKED. At any rate, here are the results. (The first one is NSFW, maybe.) See if you can identify the bands!

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fascinator/Birdcage Dealy on: June 29, 2009 10:54:28 AM
Made this for my BFF's bachelorette party. Her wedding theme is sort of peacocks+60s/70s concert posters, so I tried to incorporate some psychedelic colors. It was 1,000x better than all the generic veils we saw on other bachelorettes throughout the night.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: i'd hit that (copycat nintendo x-stitch) on: February 16, 2009 06:20:15 AM
Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't x-stitched since I was a little girl, so the counting and graphing and all that were kind of a pain. I will try to get around to scanning the chart I made soon so others can share the love!  Wink
10  COOKING / Dessert / Kirbycakes! on: February 15, 2009 07:25:29 PM
Made some Kirby cupcakes for the boy - the recipe was just a box mix w/ almond extract added. I made the buttercream from scratch and substituted almond extract for the vanilla:
