1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Memory Wire and Scrabble Tiles on: October 21, 2013 06:55:36 AM
Has anyone attempted to add a scrabble tile to a memory wire bracelet? I'm looking for some ideas on how to do it. I would prefer to have the wire go through it twice, but then it won't wrap on your wrist. Thoughts?

3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Dilly Green Beans on: August 06, 2012 05:52:11 AM
Yesterday a friend of ours let me pick some dill out of his garden. I made five jars of dilly green beans last night.

Here is the dill that I picked yesterday morning.

Five jars ready to be processed.

They are so very yummy.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Magnetic Purse Shell Covers on: April 20, 2012 10:53:05 AM
I've been working on making some covers for a magnetic purse. It took some practice, but I think I've got it down now. They are like a book cover that slips over a flat shell.

A friend gave me a bunch of upholstry samples, so I used some of those and some regular cotton fabric.

First up a Wild Things shell.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How to Determine which size pattern to use. on: April 02, 2012 08:00:22 PM
I haven't sewn clothing in years. I bought a Simplicity skirt pattern. If I measure my waist, it says I should use a size 20. My hip measurements say to make a size 16. In reality I'm kind of between an 8 and a 10. Am I reading this completely wrong? How true to size are patterns these days.

Thanks Kris
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / St. Patricks Day Miche Shell Cover on: March 30, 2012 03:23:08 PM
Littlequak posted a link about a contest through Miche. After being in the Teesha Morore Inspired swap, I decided to make a shell cover. I just found out about the contest on Sunday. So for the past four days I have slaved over this purse cover. It's basicly like a book cover that slides over an exisiting magnetic purse shell.

It's not perfect, but it was fun to make. I learned a lot while making it. I'd love to make a breast cancer themed one.

I already have 80 some likes. Someone said they should hire me. There are a couple offers to buy it. My head is swelling.  Cheesy

Here is the Facebook page with the contes if you're interested in checking it out or in voting.  Wink

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Shirt Messanger Bag on: March 24, 2012 04:47:46 PM
A coworker had a torn work shirt and I offered to make his girl friend a bag with it. The shirt was made of polyester. It was terrible to sew! I would have liked it to have been a little narrower, but with the pockets I couldn't. Then the button on the bottom of the flap was not cooperating either. It turned out so so.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Too pouffy Prom dress on: February 23, 2012 08:28:36 PM
My daughter found a prom dress that she wants to buy from a friend. It has layer upon layer of tulle and is way pouffy. Do you think it would be possible to cut out a layer or two of the pouf and still look ok?
9  COOKING / Dessert / Cupcakes on: February 18, 2012 11:08:52 AM
I plan on making cupcakes for my son's high school graduation this spring. So I've been practicing. I created a cupcake pin board.

Today my daughter and I whipped up three different kinds. I haven't tried the cupcake as a whole, but the ganache and the frostings are wonderful. They were all made with doctored up cake mix recipes.

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Coat Rack on: February 14, 2012 05:32:20 AM
My husband and I made this coat rack for a Duck's Unlimited banquet silent auction. The design was my idea and I made the tiles. He did the wood cuting and found the cool duck hooks. I hope it brings lots of money for the ducks. This was a new kind of project for me. Now I want to make one for my house.
