4721  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Handspun and Handcrafts Swap Round 5 (SU through 1/20, SO 2/20) on: January 05, 2012 04:35:58 AM
jexxican...I'm in the same boat you're in, but I'll up you one.  I have extra time b/c I just had surgery, so I'll be home for a few weeks, and I have extra money in the form of a Michael's gift card that I can't spend till I feel up to going out of the house for any length of time.

I am excited for this swap though!

Ok..this is the rhythm to my days...wake up, eat, take meds, get dressed, take a nap, CRAFT...repeat the same for lunch and dinner and that's it!

Too bad I'm not into ATC's too, b/c this pain med makes me not only sleepy, but dreammmmmmmyyyyy.......

I claim Retro_Rose for a grey beret that slouches!  (3, 0, 0)

Wink Hello!  My name is Barbara (a.k.a.-"Miss Barbara') and I am a wife, mom and teacher.  I really look forward to signing up for this swap every year!  I live in Long Island, New York.

I don't have allergies, but everyone else in my house has slight ones.  I can swap with someone who has pet(s), but please keep the pet(s) supplies away from the craft supplies and crafted item(s).

FAVORITE THEMES/WANTS:  fairies (not Disney), ladybugs, turtles, frogs, homespun yarn, koolaid dyed yarn, cupcakes, ice cream, owls, Dia de los Muertos, dragonflies, tattoos (not skulls), sanddollars

CLAY(?):
-DH and I have purchased and created a small, all glass terrirum that sits on a small table next to our phone.  I was going to buy some small plants and make it a live terrarium, but it's been two months now, and I don't think that's going to happen!  Roll Eyes  Sooooo....craft in your favorite medium and make me something small enough to go in the terrirum that we will enjoy looking at.  I'm thinking that if I receive a whole bunch of different little items from a lot of different people, it will be a very unique art project to look at.   Cheesy

PAINT(?):
-Size 2xl (two x-large) white t-shirt with the use of sharpie and drops of rubbing alcohol to create a tie-dye effect; then set with a vinegar rinse (so the colors won't run or fade.)

SEWN:
-any kind of color/style bookmark
-Dottees
-Fleece Swiffer duster covers
-Fleece Swiffer sweeper covers
-Reusuable/recycable snack bags
-Reusuable/recycable napkins
-Lavender scented sachets

PAPERCRAFT:
-origami stars
-origami hearts
-origami cranes
-Danish woven hearts (These were posted on Craftster a few days ago, but I couldn't get them onto my wist.)

-A regular plastic, three ring, notebook that comes with the three ring plastic page covers.  I use them not only for my crocheting patterns, but want to start using them for the recipies that I print out from the internet as well.  If you would like to decorate the cover for me, and/or provide dividers (i.e.-main dishes, side dishes, desserts, etc...) that would be great!
(Thank you so much mint_dawn for the felt Danish woven heart!)

YARN:
-Yarn pom-poms in every color of the rainbow, including grey, black, and white.  (I will be using them to teach my preschool class colors.)
-Chunky, somewhat loose, infinity scarf

JEWELRY:
-I love all kinds of jewelry!  I especially like hanging earrings, and do have a second hole that I wear smaller earrings in as well.  Adjustable bracelet(s) would be a good idea about now, because I am in the process of losing weight.  Necklaces on the long side (over my bosom) are better for me.  Rings and pins are teriffic too!
-Tree of Life pendant necklaces, or any version thereof....
(Thank you so much mint_dawn for the bracelet and earrings!)

HAIRCRAFT Cheesy:
-A decorated headband.  Only the hard, plastic, 'U' shaped ones stay in my hair.  I considerer my style tailored, but unique.  Maybe a ribbon wrapped one (headband) with a nice flower glued to it?

SUPPLIES:
-YARN, Yarn, yarn!!!!!!  (I love yarn and can never have enough!  And acyrlic is fine by me!)
-Buttons (Any size, shape, color)
-Fabric (Any size, shape, color)
-Pocketbook handbags (My newest obsession, for some reason.)
-Pens that write in black.  (For work)
-Stickers (in any of my themes)
-Beads (any kind, any type)
-Whimsies
-Scrabble tiles

-safety eyes (preferably black, but any color)
-Wonder Under
-Mod Podge's Diamond Magic (I can't seem to find it here at all!)
-*small rocks/stones/pebbles/shells from your area*

I am unable to take and post photos, so if you could do so, that would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you in advance!*

Talk about FABULOUS packages...wait till you read and see what the TALENTED and GENEROUS Quaggy sent to me!
(Unfortunately, I am unable to take and post photos, so I am going to post descriptions and hope quaggy posts photos soon.)

Get a cup of tea, some cookies, and your reading glasses.  You'll be here awhile!  Cool  Here goes:

*Everything was wrapped in the cutest wrapping paper and bags, which of course, I saved!*
CANDY:  A bag of vanilla meringue cookies, a bag of red and green jelly belly jellybeans, and a bar of chocolate in an ORANGE  Smiley wrapper!
EXTRAS:  'Grow your own ornament', a lighthouse themed calendar, owl stickers, and patterns from Michaels.
SUPPLIES:  TWO sets of purse handles, round and square pendants to use with resin, dragonfly/bee/ladybug charms, a skein of orange varigated yarn and two skeins of choc. brown/turquoise varigated yarn.
CRAFTED ITEMS:  An orange colored/different patterned scrappy made bookmark with beautiful beaded strands of clear beads on the end, a creme/pink/brown colored/different patterned scrappy made bookmark with the most amazing beaded dragonfly attached to the top of it.  My description doesn't do it justice.  You will just have to wait for the photo.   Roll Eyes  A very BIG and orange and owl themed thread catcher which seems like it would be great for holding items other than just thread, and is in use as we speak, a sewn "pencil case" (which is too beautiful for holding pencils) made in a great pink/white/black/bright yellow patterned fabric, with holes in one end to be put in a binder and on the other end-attached to the zipper-a georgous black beaded zipper pull.  AN ORANGE SCRAPPY THEMED (with owls too) WALLET!

And the bag to end all bags...the bag she made me...owl/flower/leaf/woodland animals fabric with a button/loop closure, two handles, tons of pockets inside, and IMPECCABLE workmanship!  Words don't do this justice either.

I love swapping with quaggy, and not just because she is generous. Roll Eyes  She really goes the extra mile to find out what her swap partners can use or want, and then seems to give 110% in making said items.

THANK YOU SO MUCH QUAGGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
