4521  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The Great Owl Swap (SIGN UP June 15, SEND OUT July 30) CLOSED on: June 20, 2010 07:05:54 AM
Angry  I'm so annoyed b/c while sitting in Temple on Friday night, this person behind me was coughing and coughing and sneezing and his son was wiping his nose with his hand and then touching the pew.  Needless to say, I now have a sore throat and a runny nose and do not have any "oomph" to craft!  And I have all these ideas too....

Angry  I'm so aggravated...me, my son, and a friend were sitting in the pew in Temple on Friday, and behind us was this person who was coughing and coughing and sneezing, and when I happened to turn around, I also saw the person's son wiping his nose with his hand and then touching the pew with the same hand.  Well, turns out that I had a sore throat all last night and a runny nose to go with it today!  I had all these ideas for what I wanted to make and I just don't have the "oomph" to do it b/c I feel sick.  Arrgghh.....!

Tongue  *smacks self upside head*  I am on this site EVERY SINGLE DAY....SEVERAL TIMES A DAY....I have been watching and waiting for this swap to open....and NOW only notice it's open b/c I was reading the "most recent posts" thread....OY!

P.S.  I sent in my questionnaire!  Can't wait for partners!

P.P.S.  PLEASE....whoever "gets" me....please don't shorten my name and call me 'Barb'....gosh, I hate that nickname... (And yet my two best friends call me ONLY that, and I haven't had the guts to tell them I hate that name and I've been friends with one for about 15 years, and the other for over 20!)

Cheesy  I'm allright nannyem!  There's another "Newbie" swap going on!  And nah...I don't think I'll have enough whimsies for next time...right now most of my so-called "whimsies" are just buttons... Cry

Smiley  Hey, nannyem!  I have to say that I am not signing up for this swap, b/c I have just recently developed a "whimsy" fetish and want to (*selfishly*) keep the whimsies I do have for myself, for now.  However, I have been following this thread, and am drooling over the posts that basically say:  "I have too many whimsies already...."  I wish there was a 'Whimsy Donation Box' for those of us that are lacking!   Tongue  Hee-hee!  Grin
4529  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: New Baby & Pregnant Momma Swap Sign ups 6/15/10 - 6/30/10 Ship 7/31/10 on: June 19, 2010 07:36:37 AM
Smiley  I am not pregnant, nor am I going to take part in this swap (wish I was both, though... Undecided), but when I saw the comments about homemade baby food vs. store bought, I really wanted to share my experience.  My son is 16 years old now, and we had a really old pediatrician for him.  When it was time to start my son on solid food, the pediatrician suggested that we just modify whatever we were eating (i.e.-not too spicy, make it smooth, etc...) and feed it to our son; reasoning that even if I fed my son storebought baby food to begin with, at some point, I would still need to help him learn to eat regular "people" food sooner or later.  Conversely,  I have custody of my two nieces, which came to live with us when they were seven months old, and already on storebought baby food.  It was more convenient as far as when we went out somewhere (i.e.-didn't need to worry about heating up the food), but in the long run it was more expensive and more time consuming (i.e.-trip to the store, running out of food, choosing the food, spending the money on it...).  If I had to do it again, I would just feed another child what we were eating.

As an aside, the "big box" baby stores sell this nifty item where the bottom looks like a pacifier and the top has a mesh "bag" where you can put food in that the baby is too young to eat in it's regular state (i.e.-a wedge of a peach), but when put in the mesh bag, the baby can chew on it, and get safely sized pieces of it thru the small holes in the mesh as he/she chews on it.  I loved that thing, and used it with both my girls (it wasn't available 16 years ago!).

Sarantha you were so sweet in sharing your pattern with me that I wish I could post the photos of the bowls I have made so far, but I do not have the ability to post photos to Craftster.  Suffice it to say that since you gave me the pattern, I have made almost ten bowls!
