3491  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Owl Swap! SU 27/May/2011 to 11/June/2011 Send Out 9/July/2011 on: June 01, 2011 04:58:13 AM
I love owls and joined the last few owl swaps there were.  I am in the giant multi-themed swap right now and need a nudge to join this swap (PLEASE NUDGE ME!  Grin).  What are some items people are hoping to get?  I crochet, and have some ideas of what I could make.   I'm not sure what I want, though.
3492  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you make the curling tentacles for jellyfish amigurumi? on: June 01, 2011 04:52:26 AM
I've done curly tentacles by doing a single, double, whatever crochet into the chain, and then two stitches into that stitch for the next row and so on....it's the doubling of the stitches that makes it spiral, I think.

You can google "how to crochet a spiral" and it will give you instructions as well.

I know what you mean...my bedroom closet is full of supplies for this swap!  I can hardly get to my clothes...

My FIL passed away almost one year ago and I was supposed to get some of the space that was his in my house for a craft space.  DH was supposed to help me.  Of course he didn't.  I've been working at it slowly but surely.  I'm hoping that by the middle of the summer, my craft space will be done as well!  Tongue
3494  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Re: I look like a parade float on: June 01, 2011 04:47:12 AM
scarlet_nights, I have to chime in with my honest opinions here...

-Your ability to sew leaves me very jealous!  So does your duck collection!  The shirt is loose on you and I agree with the suggestions here.  Us big girls tend to wear very loose clothing but then don't realize why we look bigger than what we are.

-You ex sounds like a butthead who will do whatever he can to get your ire up.  Don't listen to him.  You were probably taken aback but what he said, but I would have told him that "Yes, I am pregnant, and it is your child!" Cool Shocked

(BTW...I've been with my hubby for 22 years...for about 20 of those years I battled with my weight, only to find that hubby would RATHER a chubbier woman!  I am 5' 2" tall and weigh about 206 lbs.  He cracks me up b/c when we are intimate, he grabs my flabby parts, and seems to really like them!  Grin  There are more men out there like that.  Just you wait and see....)

amnesia-keep on goin' girl!  Cheesy

I have a lot done, it makes me proud...items I've never made before or made but I did a great job on them and it makes me happy...and all the extras...I have it all in a box in my bedroom, and every time I finish or buy something I just put it into the box...

I know it's off at the end of the summer, but I can't wait to see the gallery for this swap!  Grin

3499  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Can't Get Enough Disney Swap! (Sign-ups: 5/24-6/7; Sendout: 6/29) on: May 30, 2011 06:33:57 AM
We went for the first time last month.  What would I do differently?  Definitely go online or to a travel agent to get a map of the park I am going to (Epcot, Magic Kingdom, etc...) and decide where we want to go, what rides we definitely want to go on.  We went to the Magic Kingdom, and we wasted a lot of time walking around and trying to figure out where we were.  Some of the best rides were the last and it would have been nice to have more time in that area.  Also, find out when the parades are and decide which ones you want to go to.  We missed them and that makes me sad.  Decide in advance what you will be doing for food and drink...it is expensive there, but if you do decide to eat in the park, decide where and when you want to eat.  There are choices.  I am assuming that if 'Make a Wish' is involved, someone who is going has special needs.  I don't know know if that organization takes care of it, but if not, make sure you get a 'fast pass' that will allow you to get on the rides ahead of all the people like us  Roll Eyes who didn't get one and you won't have to wait on line forever.  Have fun!  (Oh, and as far as souveniours (sp), we bought our girls these water bottle things that had fans on them and it was a great help to be sprayed and fanned as it was really hot there in April.  My son had gone to Disney when he was younger, and he also got one of these every year!  They are like $30, but worth it!  Cheesy

Hubby and I haven't been speaking the past few days...the swap box remains on the table.  Tongue  We made up this morning, so hopefully, he will take it with him tomorrow.  If not, I'll mail it myself!
