1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / animal embroidery 2010 on: January 11, 2011 07:00:41 PM
i started embroidering this past year. here's a few animal things i did. i like embroidering animals, fur is fun and easy to stitch. i haven't really done any human portraits, so i'm thinking that'll be my new obsession for this year.
all of these are free hand. i thread a needle and start.

this one i started last february and finished recently. meaning, i did 80% of it one week last february and picked it up again one day recently:

this one was this first one i ever did. i had only a few colors and i did it in a hour or so in a cafe.

saru are the japanese monkeys that hang out in hot springs. this is a bit of embroidered fabric sewn around a small button.

here's a pretty uncreative one i did last year. personally i'd like to move away from typical imagery in embroidery. but i like birds. this would be a lot more anatomically accurate in a line drawing but the way i modeled the form with the different shades makes it really wonky. i've only been doing free-handed pieces. i know i should spend more time on planning a piece out. this is the second thing after the fox.

wolf. i would say this shows my process but as you probably know from your own experience, processes are always changing.

thanks for looking! just joined, i'm excited to see projects from everyone else!
