1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Interest in Catholic/Christian/Religious Swap on: May 29, 2011 08:25:32 AM
This sounds like an interesting swap!   I was wondering if the specifics could be pinned down a bit more... like how big / how many points would this be?  Would it be open to all religions, or would this round be geared more to Catholic / Christian themes as some have mentioned?  (Or could this be determined on the questionnaire?)

And... do we have an organizer?   Huh  I am always ready to help with organizing, but I sure don't want to hijack or step on anyone's toes.  Wink

As fiddlegirl8 mentioned, I am crafting away on a swap that's shipping this weekend and waiting for feedback. So, in a couple of weeks I'll be soo ready!   Cheesy Cheesy

Barbolot, I don't think you'd be stepping on toes at all to go ahead an organize...this thread has been around for awhile and there was some discussion on the board of the swap I'm involved in that mentioned an interest in making rosaries.

It seems to me that relatively small with a points range that's manageable, but I'm too new to weigh in with any real experience.  The swap I'm in was 5 points and that was a very manageable range, especially during the summer.

With regard to the other religions, that could be determined in the questionnaire, and with a little communication and  diplomacy, in the pairings, but it seems to me the idea of swap themes is to set some sort of parameters.  I mean, not to be flip but, yes they are excluding "eagle" lovers from the "owl" swap and "Snow White" lovers from the "Alice in Wonderland" swap.  I assume (hope) there are lots of people who love Catholic ephemera without actually being a practicing Catholic and there is a wide range of "Catholic" for those who consider themselves to be Catholic so I don't think it's too limiting to keep the theme surrounding generally those ideas.

Just my thoughts tho.

Looking forward to this!

Wink I've just decided to opt-out of being taken in the scheduled rapture tomorrow, in favor of working on my swap stuff...(not that I'm so assured that I'd be taken in the first place, but just to be on the safe side)  Is there a form memo I send or a sign I post on my window, "please move on, have better things to do" or something like that?  I mean, I could pencil in a "taking" for after sendout, and well, really after the Memorial Day holiday (i need a break) and with 4th of July coming, that's a lot of family stuff, soooo, August, yea I can be taken in August.. it's too hot here during August anyway.... does anyone want to join a petition to move the Rapture to August, if we get enough people together it should work right?   Wink Wink  I'm just too busy this weekend!!

Did this idea take off?   Huh  I was thinking I'd propose it, then used the handy dandy search engine and found this thread.  Seems like there's alot of un-tapped creative energy out there for things like rosaries, chaplets and OLG  and all the beautiful prayer cards and images  - - all of which I love love love....the Baby Jesus' too! or Grownup Jesus or Bearded Jesus or any Jesus you want!

Throwing it out there for discussion!

Love Love Love it!  Gorgeous!!  Very nice job.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy What are you going to do next?

I just started lockerhooking about 2 months ago - never seem to have time to do it.  To me, it is very meditative because you don't have to count, measure or follow lines (unless you want to do a pattern) you don't have to worry about getting something straight, curved or angled..you just make your stitches, over and over.

Very nice,
