1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / my first freezer paper stencil- mama phish/ baby phish on: July 07, 2010 07:15:09 PM

My friend (pictured) is a HUGE Phish fan (phan?) and has been baking a baby girl for about 7 months. We wanted to give her something maternity but still fun, and this is what I came up with. The top, brighter sign has [mama] stenciled above it and the lower has [baby].

Though some of the colors didn't dry like I'd envisioned, I'm pretty proud of it. I don't know why I always decide to make things as hard as possible- a slightly confusing swirly stencil with several little bits and ten colors of paint. Phew.

On to the next big idea!
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / EEE I got a sewing machine! on: July 04, 2010 09:13:29 AM
I got a Brother XL2610, and tomorrow I begin to teach myself to sew.

I have prewashed, preshunk fabric. I have interfacing. I have all sorts of notions. I have 101 One Yard Wonders.

Wish me luck, and hope I don't lose a finger!

Thanks to everyone who have shared their advice, experiences, and tutorials on here. I wouldn't have been brave enough without you!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Medical School Graduation party- need help! on: April 29, 2010 01:51:47 PM
OK my fellow craftsters-

We are throwing a surprise graduation party for one of my dearest guy friends who is about to graduate from medical school to go into Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Any ideas are welcome- decor, food, favors, etc.

I need to come up with something to do with the thousands of tiny plastic babies I've bought too!

I've also bought the organ embroidery pattern from Sublime Stitching, as well as the new medical themed one.
