1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Activities for people with dementia (and other disabilities related to aging)??? on: March 03, 2012 07:24:06 PM
I worked with a age care home back in Australia by running craft groups. The women really enjoyed making cards for Christmas, Easter and anything else. I would supply the cards, stickers, stamps and precut pictures for them to glue on. They enjoyed making the cards a lot, but i think they got the real kick from sending them to their families.
There was one woman in particular who became very upset because she had no house work to do (her room was cleaned for her daily and all washing was also done for her) and before she came to the home was a real worker and would do everything for herself. To help her feel a sense of worth, we let her fold hand towels and polish the door nobs in the recreation room. After that she would always appear much happier which is always good  Smiley

sell it for more than $450. If you think about it, it would only work out to be $4.50 ish per hour you spent making it.

I have been making Easter cards lately and I made these two to put "Happy Easter" in the middle of them but am now thinking it may not go well.
What do you think??
The first one I think, If I made the flowers red would go well for Christmas.

8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / MORE EASTER CARDS!!! on: March 19, 2011 03:42:37 AM
Ok well these are some more sewn cards that i have made... they are sooo addictive..

It's strange that Ive taken up card making... I hate buying people cards because I know they'll just throw them away.. Also, I can only ever manage to put down the basic 'Happy (event of the day), Have a great Day, From Amber" ... So I'm not so great with words.

Sorry about the quality. The lighting wasn't great.

Hope you all like them!!

The Cross. I gave one like this for a baptism last week. but i think you could still use it for most christian/catholic etc holidays eg Easter

I like this one a lot. I think the sequins and beads on the egg add to it.

My favourite one so far (the bunny is throwing the eggs out of the basket!  Cheesy)

For the more religious type.
